How to choose fresh squid

Color

The meat of cuttlefish and squid itself is a lighter brown, and the squid shreds are also light brown. Nowadays, many pure white foods on the market are bleached with bleach. They look beautiful, but they are harmful to the body, especially if you eat them frequently, the harm is even greater.

We just need to remember one thing, as long as the squid and cuttlefish meat is not the original color, that is, light brown, it is best not to eat it. There are also some that are not white, but the color is not natural and looks unnatural. These are because the manufacturer has carried out chemical treatment for some purpose, such as to maintain softness or to store it for a longer time for anti-corrosion, and some even reprocess the expired ones, which will lead to abnormal color.

Hardness

Very soft, not stiff, and a little moist. All fresh ones are in this state. The ones that feel hard to the touch are old goods. The harder they are, the less fresh they are. The ones that are very dry and hard have been stored for a long time. They taste like wood residues and have no taste.

High-quality squid has a solid and intact body, is pink and shiny, has a slight white frost on the surface, has thick and translucent meat, and has a not red back; inferior squid has a thin and incomplete body, is reddish-yellow with a slight black color, has no luster, has too thick white frost on the surface, and has a black or moldy red back. There are two kinds of squids currently seen in the market: one is a squid with a fatter body, also known as "squid"; the other is a squid with a slender body, also known as "cuttlefish", and the small squid is commonly known as "small tube".

Eating squid can not only prevent Alzheimer's disease but also help delay aging. When eating squid, we must pay attention that squid cannot be eaten together with hot foods such as mutton and dog meat. Because it must be cooked thoroughly before eating, otherwise it will cause gastrointestinal disorders.
