Many girls like to keep some small pets at home, such as small turtles. Small turtles are very easy to raise. Put it in a fish tank, fill half of the tank with water, and then put a few pebbles. Pay attention to the height of the pebbles. Half of them must be in the water and half in the air. In this way, the small turtle can live both in water and on shore. Some turtles will develop turtle skin rot due to improper breeding. So how to treat turtle skin rot? Ulceration occurs on any part of the turtle's skin, the lesion is swollen, the skin tissue is necrotic, and the epidermis becomes white, grayish yellow, and ulcerated. When the ulcer is severe, the skin will crack, revealing bright red subcutaneous tissue. If not treated immediately, it will lead to the death of the turtle in the later stages. Among the common turtles, grass turtles and spotted turtles are more likely to suffer from skin rot, while red-eared sliders have stronger resistance and are less likely to have skin diseases. Therefore, friends who are just starting to raise grass turtles and flower turtles should pay more attention and discover and cure them early! Treatment: 1. External liquid drug treatment: iodine tincture, povidone iodine, hydrogen peroxide, iodine tincture, and gentian violet can be used. When using iodine tincture or povidone iodine, dilute it and soak the affected area for 30 minutes before dry-restoring. Iodine tincture, hydrogen peroxide, and gentian violet are more effective, but be careful not to get into the eyes accidentally and cause discomfort to the turtle. Generally, for mild skin rot, apply disinfectant and let it dry for 30 minutes for 3-4 days, and it will heal on its own. 2. Treatment with topical ointments: You can use chloramphenicol eye ointment, erythromycin eye ointment, erythromycin ointment, Wuji ointment, sulfur ointment, acyclovir cream, Daktarin, Bactroban, etc. From a practical point of view, there is generally no need to use expensive drugs such as Daktarin and Bactroban. Usage: Apply 1 to 2 times a day, keep it dry most of the time, and soak it in water for half an hour to an hour to complete the feeding. When dry-raising, be careful not to keep the turtle in a dry place for too long, as this will cause it to become dehydrated. It can usually be cured within 10 days. Among the ointments listed above, sulfur ointment is particularly effective and is the first choice for treatment. In fact, most of the time, turtle skin rot is caused by stress response. As long as you pay more attention to the water quality and expose it to the sun, it will heal itself. If you want your new turtle to quickly adapt to the environment when it arrives home, first put it in a smaller container in a dark place and let it rest, and find a way to get it to eat first. Wait until they start eating before putting them back into the environment, so that the stress response will be smaller. |
