What should I do if my lumbar spine is curved?

  1. The spine extends from the coccyx to the neck where it connects to the bones of the head. The spine is made up of 33 vertebrae, and the connections between the vertebrae are perfect and seamless. The ligaments allow the spine to have a certain degree of mobility, for example, bending, stretching and other movements can be achieved. The spine is prone to disease when it is subjected to high pressure for a long time. Among them, lumbar spinal curvature is a relatively common symptom. Let’s take a look at what to do if you have lumbar spinal curvature.

There are two types of scoliosis. One is congenital scoliosis, which refers to abnormalities in the spinal structure, that is, the presence of triangular hemivertebrae, butterfly vertebrae, fused vertebrae, and abnormal rib development after birth, which causes the spine to tilt, leading to scoliosis or kyphosis. It is rare in clinical practice and often requires surgical correction. Second, idiopathic scoliosis refers to a condition in which there is basically no abnormality in the spinal structure. Due to the imbalance of neuromuscular strength, the original physiological curvature of the spine becomes a pathological curvature, that is, the original thoracic kyphosis becomes scoliosis. It is common in clinical practice, mostly caused by long-term poor posture and bad living habits. Most of the time, ideal results can be achieved through conservative treatment.

    1. Side curl

Method: Put your feet together, bend your upper body toward the raised side, grab the tree trunk with both hands, hold for 20 seconds, pause for a while, and then return to the original position.

Tip: Keep your body leaning sideways, not forward.

    2. Single-arm lift

Method: "Side bend" the arm on the same side, and lift the arm as if lifting a bucket; the larger the amplitude, the better.

Tip: Keep your upper body upright and don’t lean forward.

    3. Side-lying leg raise

Method: The practitioner lies on his side on the mat and slowly raises one leg, the larger the amplitude, the better.

Tip: The "side bend" part must be facing downwards.

    4. Pull-ups

Method: high and low horizontal bar hangs, upper body pull-ups.

Tip: The arm on the "side bend" side should be on top.

    2. Signs of Scoliosis

    1. After putting on clothes, the neckline is uneven and one shoulder is higher than the other.

    2. One side of the back is bulging.

    3. When sitting, there are wrinkles on one side of the waist but not on the other side.

    4. Look straight at the child's body and you will find that one of his hips is higher than the other.

    5. When lying flat, the lower limbs on both sides are of unequal length.
