Can facial skin allergies be treated?

Spring and autumn are the peak seasons for facial skin allergies. Some patients not only experience facial peeling, but also have many small red bumps and even ulcers. Dermatologists say that in this case, you must stay away from allergens. Secondly, antihistamine treatment is effective. In addition, the use of hormones or desensitization therapy also has good results. Patients can choose according to their actual situation.

1. Stay away from allergens

Allergens are a necessary condition for the occurrence of allergies. Without allergens, allergies can be avoided. This is an economical and effective method, but it is not useful for all allergy patients. Some people are allergic to one allergen, while others may be allergic to several allergens; some allergens can be avoided, but some are difficult to avoid; and many allergens are still unknown, so staying away from allergens is a good way, but it is not useful for all patients.

2. Antihistamine treatment

The method commonly used in hospitals to treat allergies is to use antihistamines, such as chlorpheniramine, astemizole, minclerotin, Claritin, etc. Histamine is one of the main allergic mediators. Clearing histamine and preventing it from acting on body tissues can indeed have a rapid anti-allergic effect. However, in addition to histamine, allergic mediators also include leukotrienes, 5-hydroxytryptamine, and kinase. Antihistamines only fight histamine, not other allergic mediators. Therefore, they are useful for allergies caused by histamine, but have little effect on allergies caused by other allergic mediators.

Antihistamines temporarily solve allergic symptoms, but the basis of allergies has not changed, the immune system is still low, and the oxidative damage of a large number of free radicals still exists. Under the stimulation of allergens, allergic mediators are still being released. Therefore, even if antihistamine treatment temporarily improves the symptoms, the symptoms will recur.

3. Use of hormones

The therapeutic effect of hormones on allergic diseases is very obvious, but the side effects are too great and cannot be used frequently. Representative drugs: epinephrine, beconazole, valsartan, beconazole, etc. This type of drug suppresses the body's immunity, preventing allergic reactions from the beginning. Although the effect is immediate, the side effects are significant, especially when administered systemically, which can cause obesity, hirsutism, acne, increased blood sugar, hypertension, osteoporosis, etc. Therefore, it can only temporarily control the condition when it is serious. Commonly used hormones can also seriously damage internal organs such as the liver and kidneys.

4. Desensitization therapy

Using the principle of the body's drug resistance, if the body gradually adapts to a certain allergen, then this allergen will no longer cause allergies in the body. Generally, we first confirm which allergen causes the allergy, and then implant the antigen preparation of this allergy into the body, starting with a small dose for a short time, and then gradually increase the dose and extend the time, so that the body gradually adapts to this antigen until it is completely adapted to this antigen.
