Relieve gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by radiotherapy for lymphoma

I am a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patient. I had my first radiotherapy in July this year. I was in good health, but I didn't expect to have adverse reactions after radiotherapy. I felt a little nauseous and wanted to vomit. I finished the second treatment yesterday, and the nausea worsened and I had no appetite. How can patients who are undergoing radiotherapy relieve nausea?

Anorexia and vomiting are common side effects of radiotherapy for lymphoma, most of which are caused by gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by radiotherapy. When these symptoms occur, the following measures can be taken to alleviate them:

1. During radiotherapy, you should eat small meals frequently and eat easily digestible foods. You can also eat some sweet, cool and moisturizing foods, such as loquat, pear, banana, lotus root, carrot, jellyfish, etc.

2. Avoid eating overly sweet, spicy, greasy, or smelly foods, and avoid eating salty snacks and foods.

3. After radiotherapy, pay attention to bed rest and drink plenty of water to accelerate the excretion of metabolites.

4. Take vitamin B6, metoclopramide and other drugs orally before meals. You can also choose to eat appetizers such as hawthorn, which can relieve nausea. If vomiting is severe, metoclopramide and other drugs can be injected intramuscularly.

5. Pressing or acupuncture Neiguan and Zusanli points by hand can also help. Neiguan is located on the medial midline of the forearm, 2 inches above the wrist crease. Zusanli is located on the front of the calf (tibia), with an obvious bony protrusion below the patella, slightly outward from the outer edge of the bone.
