1. Fat

There is almost no fat in egg whites. Almost 98% of the fat in an egg is concentrated in the yolk, which contains about 5 grams of fat. However, the nutritional advantage of egg yolk is much higher than that of egg white.

Egg yolks contain good levels of minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, and iron. Fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K and most of the B vitamins are mainly found in egg yolks. Lutein and zeaxanthin, which are beneficial to eyesight, and lecithin and betaine, which are beneficial to the prevention of chronic diseases, are also found in egg yolks. Cholesterol comes with fat. One egg contains about 200 mg of cholesterol (all in the yolk, of course). Cholesterol sounds scary, but it is actually a nutrient that the human body needs. In the past, it was often said that "cholesterol intake should not exceed 300 mg per day" for the purpose of controlling blood cholesterol. At present, nutrition circles at home and abroad agree that the cholesterol eaten into the body has little effect on the level of blood cholesterol, and cholesterol is no longer restricted. Therefore, although the egg yolk is not as soft and tender as the egg white, it is not cost-effective to eat only the egg white without the egg yolk.

3. Others

The egg yolk contains more fat, so the calories are relatively high, but for example, the calories of this egg are 71kcal, so people who want to lose weight don’t have to worry, it’s fine to eat one egg a day. The yolk contains more protein, vitamins and minerals than the egg white. So it’s such a pity that people throw away egg yolks!
