The corner of my mouth twitched suddenly. What's going on?

Many children experience sudden twitching of the corners of their mouths. Although this is an occasional condition, it is a subconscious psychological behavior. If it is not improved, it will become a long-term symptom. At present, there are many reasons, such as: external factors, the child is stimulated psychologically; personal reasons, the body suffers from certain diseases. It is recommended to go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment this morning to improve the condition.

A child's mouth corners always twitching is an early symptom of childhood tics. Tics are caused by an imbalance in the secretion of neurotransmitters in the brain. Children with tics will have abnormal behaviors such as frequent blinking, shrugging, and pouting. They are often ridiculed by classmates at school. In order to suppress their tic behaviors in class, children cannot concentrate on class and have poor academic performance. If this continues for a long time, it will cause serious harm to the child's psychology and life.

What causes tics in children?

1. Maternal factors: The mother is exposed to some stressful events during pregnancy, such as excessive fright, domestic violence, sudden mental stimulation and severe pregnancy reactions. Especially severe pregnancy reactions in the first three months of pregnancy are high-risk factors for causing tic disorders in offspring.

2. Production factors are the main cause of Tourette syndrome in children. Birth injuries, asphyxia during the delivery process, or excessive fright, high fever, convulsions after birth can all lead to the occurrence of Tourette syndrome.

3. Life factors: Children are subjected to mental trauma in daily life, long-term high mental stress, stimulation from unexpected incidents, brain trauma, etc., which are all causes of tics in children and can trigger the onset of symptoms or aggravate the tics in children.

4. Diet: The usual dietary nutrition cannot meet the needs of brain function. The intake of amino acids, fatty acids, lecithin, and trace elements such as iron and zinc is low. Unbalanced nutrition has an adverse effect on brain function, which in turn leads to tic symptoms in children.

Things to note about the diet of children with Tourette syndrome:

1. Do not eat too much sugar: Studies have shown that eating too much sugar can cause emotional instability, capriciousness, excitement, crying, throwing things and destroying property, and having a particularly bad temper.

2. Avoid eating foods that contain high blood lead levels: Because lead can cause changes in children's visual movement, memory perception, image thinking, behavior, etc., and cause hyperactivity, children with ADHD should eat less lead-containing preserved eggs, shellfish and other foods.

3. Do not eat too much salt: eating too much salt can lead to accumulation of potassium (sodium) salt in the body, resulting in symptoms such as slow reaction and drowsiness.

4. It is appropriate to eat foods high in calcium: When serum calcium is low, the excitability of muscles and nerves increases, and children will experience twitching of hands and feet. In addition, symptoms such as nocturnal bruxism and irritability may also occur. In life, you should eat more foods rich in calcium, such as milk, soy milk, beans, lean meat, eggs, green leafy vegetables, etc., and supplement with cod liver oil (vitamin D).

remind:

Children with childhood tics often have abnormal physical and neurological examinations, and may also have learning difficulties and poor academic performance. If coupled with discrimination and ridicule from classmates and teachers, the child will dislike going to school even more, and may even become bored with school and skip classes. If tics are not treated promptly and effectively, it will not only make it difficult for children to establish a healthy personality with self-esteem and self-confidence, but will also cause social withdrawal and social disorders, which will be very detrimental to the children's normal life.
