What are the methods for preserving fresh crabs

Crab is a very delicious food. In autumn, crabs begin to be available on the market and everyone can eat delicious crabs. However, everyone must know the correct way to preserve crabs. If crabs are not preserved well, the taste will be affected, and some bacteria and toxins will appear, which will have a serious impact on our health. There are various ways to preserve crabs, and everyone can understand them clearly.

Put in the bathtub

Let the bathtub be used as a temporary breeding pond. Gently place the fresh crabs you just bought into it. Fill it with water just enough to cover the crabs so that they can breathe when they stand up. Add a small amount of small fish and shrimp into the water depending on how long they need to be kept. Tips: This preservation method can keep crabs alive for 7 days or more, and the bathtub walls are smooth, so the crabs cannot escape. There is another point that you need to pay special attention to. If you are not going to eat the crabs immediately after buying them, remember not to wash them with water, otherwise the crabs will die.

Put it in a plastic bucket

If you don't have a bathtub at home, you can put the crabs in a tall plastic bucket/basin with a smooth inner wall. Be careful not to stack them. Just add water to half the height of the crabs. Don't bury the crabs completely. Water that is too deep will make them unable to breathe. Tips: Using this method to preserve crabs, if the temperature is not too high, they can generally be preserved for 5 days.

Keep in the refrigerator

You can also store live crabs in the refrigerator, but you must be careful about the method. First, find a foam box of the appropriate size according to the freezer of your refrigerator, then tie the legs and feet of the crabs and place them tightly in the foam box one by one, then add water that covers the surface of the crabs into the box. Finally, cover the foam box and put it in the freezer of the refrigerator.

Freeze in the refrigerator

Hairy crabs are farmed in many places in my country, among which the Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs in southern Jiangsu are the most famous. At the same time, Yangcheng Lake is also the main production area of hairy crabs in my country. Many places in my country buy hairy crabs from here. These hairy crabs are frozen and then shipped to all parts of the country. Therefore, the hairy crabs you buy can actually be frozen in the refrigerator and thawed before eating. The hairy crabs can be kept fresh for 1 to 2 months without changing their taste.
