How to take care of polyps that bleed when they shed

When it comes to nasal polyps, if surgical treatment is adopted, the patient must pay attention to postoperative care, because some surgeries may cause postoperative infection problems if care is not paid attention to. This will not only affect recovery, but also cause greater harm. Therefore, it is recommended that after the operation, follow the doctor's instructions, use some broad-spectrum antibiotics, control bleeding, and seek medical attention in time if there are any abnormalities.

Postoperative care 1 .

Apply cold compress and take a semi-recumbent position after the operation, and place a dry cotton ball in the nasal vestibule for a few hours to prevent the blood-stained secretions from flowing out. Use ice or cold towels to reduce postoperative swelling, and pay attention to bleeding and general condition.

Postoperative care 2 .

To prevent infection, broad-spectrum antibiotics can be used after surgery for one week. Pay attention to changes in body temperature within 1 to 2 days after surgery, which generally should not exceed 38°C. The hemostatic sponge used for nasal packing was removed 24 to 48 hours after surgery. After the hemostatic sponge is removed, under the anesthesia of the nasal mucosa surface, an aspirator is used to clean the blood clots, secretions and scabs in the surgical cavity.

Postoperative care 3 .

Maintaining a good body position after surgery plays a key role in postoperative recovery. For example, adopting a semi-recumbent position can reduce congestion and bleeding in the head, facilitate the spitting out of secretions, and reduce local swelling. Appropriate activities on the second day after surgery are particularly important for relieving pain and enhancing the body's resistance.

Postoperative care 4 .

Follow-up examination: After discharge, patients should go to the outpatient clinic for follow-up examination regularly to obtain satisfactory therapeutic effect. It usually takes about 3 months, and some patients need follow-up visits for half a year or longer.

Postoperative care 5 .

Diet : Pay attention to diet. Postoperative patients should drink small amounts of water several times to moisten the oropharynx, or cover the patient's mouth with wet gauze to humidify the inhaled air after surgery. Provide high-calorie, high-protein, vitamin-rich liquid or semi-liquid food to increase the body's resistance and prevent infection. The food should be warm or cool to avoid overheating or hard food that may damage the mucous membrane and cause bleeding in the wound.
