What's the danger if the patient's heart rate is 160

Tachycardia refers to the heartbeat being too fast, which affects our physical health. The heart rate of a healthy person should be around 60 to 100 beats per minute. If a person's heart beats 160 times per minute, it is a sign of too fast a frequency. It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. In addition, it is not ruled out that tachycardia may be caused by excessive exercise or recent physical exertion.

What should I do if tachycardia occurs?

As the saying goes, tailor your clothes to your body and sing the song according to the mountain you are on. The same goes for tachycardia. Different types of tachycardia require different treatments. There are many types of tachycardia clinically, the more common ones are sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia.

Sinus tachycardia is generally related to age, exercise, anxiety, pregnancy, excitement, tension, drinking, tea drinking, etc. This type of tachycardia is generally less than 140 beats per minute and does not require treatment. Maintain a good lifestyle and relax your mood, and it will often disappear on its own. What we are talking about here is mainly tachycardia that needs treatment, such as supraventricular tachycardia. In terms of treatment, the following three principles can be used for reference, that is, three sentences: if the stimulation is ineffective, stop it; if you want to cure it, go to the hospital for treatment.

First, stimulation of the vagus nerve can be stopped quickly. When supraventricular tachycardia occurs, many people are not in the hospital. At this time, we can use some methods to stimulate the vagus nerve to achieve the purpose of ending the tachycardia attack. For example, you can press your fingers against your throat to stimulate the throat, causing nausea and vomiting, or you can take a deep breath and hold your breath until you can't hold it anymore, then exhale forcefully. This can often stop part of the tachycardia. In 2015, a method for terminating supraventricular tachycardia was introduced. This method is simple and effective. The specific steps are as follows: 1. The patient sits or semi-recumbent; 2. Take a 10ml syringe (if you are not in the hospital or do not have a syringe, you can take a similar tubular object) and blow for 15 seconds; 3. Immediately lie on your back and raise your lower limbs 45-90 degrees and hold for 45 seconds. This method is simple and is ideal for terminating supraventricular tachycardia.

2. If stimulation is ineffective, seek medical attention: When supraventricular tachycardia persists for a long time and cannot be terminated by the above non-drug methods, you should go to the hospital and ask the doctor to use drugs or other treatments (such as transesophageal pacing or even electrical cardioversion) to terminate the supraventricular tachycardia. However, these methods can only stop the attack and cannot cure it.

3. To cure it completely: If tachycardia recurs or the symptoms are severe, radiofrequency ablation can be used to cure it and solve the problem once and for all. This method is to puncture a blood vessel, send a catheter into the heart, find the place where the arrhythmia occurs, and destroy the tissue causing the arrhythmia by releasing heat energy or cold saline, thereby curing the arrhythmia. This operation does not require surgery and generally does not require general anesthesia. It also has a low surgical risk and a high success rate. If you want to cure it completely, you can consider this method.
