Jaw dropping is a common term used by people. Generally speaking, it means dislocation of the jaw. Many people may feel strange or even unbelievable about jaw dislocation. Because in people's impression, arms are more likely to be dislocated, but jaw dropping is real, and there will be habitual jaw dropping. There are also some symptoms of unilateral jaw dropping. Main symptoms: The patient's mouth is half open, unable to close or open, drooling, slurred speech, and difficulty chewing and swallowing. Due to the forward displacement of the mandible, the cheeks become flatter and the face becomes longer, there is pain or swelling near the joints, there is an obvious depression in front of the tragus, and the displaced condyle can be felt below the zygomatic arch. Types of jaw drop Acute anterior dislocation It is more common in women. The patient was unable to close his mouth, his anterior teeth were open-bite, the mandibular midline deviated to the healthy side, and the posterior teeth had early contact. Patients with bilateral dislocation have slurred speech, salivation, elongation of the lower third of the face, and pain in the joint area and masticatory muscles, which is especially obvious during reduction. If both sides of the joint are dislocated at the same time, the cheeks will become flatter and the face will become longer; if it is a unilateral joint dislocation, the patient's face will be asymmetrical, and the midline of the cheek and lower teeth will be biased toward the non-dislocated side. Acute anterior dislocation is easy to diagnose. It often occurs when the mouth is opened too vigorously or the mandible is injured when opening the mouth. It may also be caused by obvious relaxation of the joint capsule and uncoordinated muscle movement. Recurrent dislocation Symptoms of acute anterior dislocation recur, and the patient is afraid to open his mouth wide. Reduction is relatively easy and the patient can do it by himself. Recurrent dislocations have a history of recurring episodes and are more likely to occur in the elderly and seriously ill patients. Arthrography showed loosening of the joint capsule and avulsion of the articular disc. Old dislocation The clinical manifestations are similar to those of acute anterior dislocation, but there is no obvious pain in the temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles, the mandible has a certain degree of mobility, and the mouth can be opened and closed. Chronic dislocation has a long course and is prone to occur in edentulous patients, infants, and seriously ill patients. Treatment for dropped jaw 1. After the jaw is dislocated, you can treat it by brushing your teeth while moving your mouth. Generally, the stiff muscles will automatically shrink after coming into contact with toothpaste and will recover in about 3 minutes. 2. To push the joint back to its original position: put your two thumbs into your mouth, pull outwards, and then push outwards and upwards. 3. The cause of jaw dislocation may be calcium deficiency and lack of collagen, so it is recommended to supplement protein powder, vitamin C and calcium tablets on a regular basis. 4. Steam the white ginseng and take it several times a day. In addition, you should massage it regularly and supplement calcium. |
