Is there any relationship between anal prolapse and hemorrhoids?

Anal prolapse is a problem that many people often encounter nowadays. The symptom of anal prolapse may be related to hemorrhoids. It is mostly due to mucosal infection. You often feel that there is a swelling protruding from the anus and it will retract by itself. This is hemorrhoids. However, if you feel that the anus is always prolapsed and there is obvious pain, this situation can be considered as anal prolapse, and it may be related to gastrointestinal inflammation.

Is there any relationship between anal prolapse and hemorrhoids?

Nowadays, many patients believe that prolapse of the anus means hemorrhoids. In fact, this is a wrong concept. Prolapse of the anus must be promptly ruled out for diseases such as anal papilloma and rectal prolapse.

Although the main symptom of internal hemorrhoids developing to the middle and late stages is prolapse of internal hemorrhoids. However, not all things that protrude from the anus are internal hemorrhoids. Among anorectal diseases, many diseases can cause prolapse of the anus, such as anal papilloma, rectal prolapse, etc., which can all protrude from the anus, but their clinical manifestations are different.

The manifestations of internal hemorrhoids protruding outside the anus are different from other anal diseases in that:

The prolapsed material of internal hemorrhoids is on the dentate line, and the mucosa covers the prolapsed material, which can be returned to the anus by itself. If it is covered by fibrous tissue, it needs to rest before being returned to the anus. The prolapsed material has a large base, with the dentate line as the boundary, and is clearly divided into upper and lower parts. One or several prolapsed materials can be seen in the anus, and most of them are not connected into pieces. The base of the papilloma is usually thin and long, grayish white in color, and attached to the nipple.

Rectal prolapse is characterized by the downward movement of the rectal mucosa, which completely protrudes out of the anus. The mucosa around the anus prolapses, and in severe cases, the rectal muscle layer may also protrude. It can be seen from this that prolapse is one of the manifestations of worsening internal hemorrhoids, but not all prolapse is caused by hemorrhoids.

Anal prolapse must be removed promptly, and a good diagnosis must be made before treatment to facilitate treatment. Confusing treatment will not only delay treatment, but is also most likely to cause adverse consequences.
