Things to note when recovering from lipoma surgery

When a disease occurs in the body, surgical treatment is required. Only surgery can alleviate the symptoms and prevent the disease from getting worse. Therefore, many people’s first reaction after the onset of lipoma is to undergo surgery. However, after the lipoma surgery, it is easy for the disease to relapse. Therefore, what needs to be done in normal times is personal body care to avoid repeated aggravation of the disease.

Postoperative care

Routine treatment: including postoperative anti-inflammatory and supportive treatment. Antibiotics were applied for 1 week. Strict aseptic technique is required during laser surgery for smaller lipomas. Antibiotics are not needed after the operation, only large doses of vitamin C and other vitamin drugs are given. In addition to antibiotics, postoperative treatment for larger lipomas should also be based on the patient's specific circumstances, including supportive care.

Change the dressing 24 hours after surgery, observe the incision for discharge, identify the nature of the secretions and take appropriate measures. In most laser surgeries, postoperative infection is rare and can be avoided as long as strict aseptic operating procedures are followed. The wound sutures should be removed after 7 to 10 days.

Diet and health care

Specific dietary recommendations require consulting a doctor based on symptoms, eating a reasonable diet, ensuring comprehensive and balanced nutrition, and eating a light diet without spicy or irritating foods.

Pathological etiology

The cause is unknown, but a small number of patients have a family history or have the disease since birth.

Disease diagnosis

Sometimes it is necessary to differentiate it from neurofibroma, lymphangioma, cavernous hemangioma, dermoid cyst and cutaneous cysticercosis. Perform aspiration examination when necessary.

1. Angiolipoma: Capillaries and endothelial cells proliferate in the tumor tissue, the vascular lumen is narrowed, and there are fibrinous thrombi.

2. Cutaneous cysticercosis The cyst is not lobed and cysticercosis can be found.

Treatment

Small lipomas that develop slowly and have no clinical symptoms generally do not require treatment. If the tumor grows very large, causes pain, or affects the appearance, surgical removal may be considered. There are many ways to treat lipomas with laser surgery, but for small lipomas, micro-incision laser excision and lobular removal are used. Larger lipomas are removed through the incision selected according to their location and surgical requirements.

Lipoma Resection

Indications

If superficial lipoma affects function, labor and aesthetics, surgery may be considered.

Preoperative preparation

Clean the skin area.

[anaesthetization]

Local anesthesia.

Surgical procedures

The surface skin of the lipoma is incised along the skin lines. Use curved hemostats to separate the tumor along the tumor capsule, and clamp and ligate all blood vessels seen. Lipomas are often multi-lobed and irregular in shape, and care should be taken to completely separate the lipoma tissue with the capsule. Use tissue forceps to lift the tumor, separate the base, and remove the tumor. After hemostasis, the incision was sutured in layers.

Postoperative care

The incision dressing should be properly bandaged and the wound dressing should be kept clean after surgery. When there is pain, you can take antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as painkillers. The stitches are removed 5-7 days after surgery. If the incision becomes infected, with local redness, swelling and tenderness, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.
