Can patients with kidney stones smoke?

Patients with kidney stones should try not to smoke. Smoking can destroy the body's nutrients and hinder the body's absorption of vitamins. For patients who already have kidney disease, the harm is even greater.

1. Don’t consume too much fat. Meat from various animals, especially fatty pork, are foods high in fat. Eating too much will inevitably increase body fat. Fat will reduce the amount of calcium that can be bound in the intestines, thereby increasing the absorption of oxalate. If there is any excretion failure, such as sweating a lot, drinking less water, and less urine output, kidney stones are likely to form under such circumstances.

2. Do not consume too much high-sugar food. Whether normal people or stone patients, after eating 100 grams of sucrose, their urine was checked 2 hours later and it was found that the concentrations of calcium and oxalic acid in the urine increased. If lactose is taken, it can promote the absorption of calcium and is more likely to cause the accumulation of calcium oxalate in the body and form urinary stones.

What are the signs of kidney stones?

1. Colic: Small stones in the body move in the renal pelvis or ureter, which can stimulate ureteral spasm. Generally speaking, the pain will occur suddenly, and in severe cases, there will be symptoms such as difficulty urinating, nausea and vomiting, and profuse sweating.

2. Hematuria: Usually, hematuria is accompanied by pain. Sometimes the patient does not feel any pain, and hematuria cannot be seen with the naked eye. When you go to the hospital for a checkup, most of the time you will have a urine test. If you see too many red blood cells, it means you have hematuria, which is an early sign of kidney stones.

3. History of stone excretion: When pain and hematuria occur, stone and small stones will be excreted with urine. If the stone encounters urethral obstruction and irritation and pain in the urethra, the stone will be discharged from the urethra and the urethra will be unobstructed immediately, and the patient will immediately feel relieved and comfortable.

4. Other symptoms: Usually, kidney stones will have symptoms such as colic, nausea, vomiting, irritability, abdominal distension, hematuria, etc. If you have a urinary tract infection, you may also have symptoms such as fear of cold, fever, etc. People with acute kidney stones may experience unbearable pain.
