Is it harmful to drink ice water after exercise?

Many people in life like to exercise very much, and stretching and warm-up before and after exercise are also very important. You will sweat a lot during exercise, so replenishing water is essential. Some people drink ice water after exercise. It is right to drink water after exercise, but drinking ice water has a great impact on human health, especially after strenuous exercise. So is drinking ice water harmful after exercise?

1. Affects the body's heat dissipation

When people do a lot of exercise, their body temperature may be higher than usual, reaching about 39 degrees. At this time, if they drink too much ice water, it will affect the heat dissipation of the body temperature, and may cause abdominal pain or colds and other diseases.

2. Severe organ contraction

During exercise, all functions of the body will be in a state of excitement or more intense heat dissipation than usual. If you suddenly drink cold water at this time, it will easily cause the stomach, esophagus, throat and other organs to contract violently due to the cold.

3. Digestive system disorders

If you drink a lot of ice water after exercise, it can easily affect your gastrointestinal system. Because the temperature of the ice water is too low and the difference between it and your body temperature is too great, it can easily cause stomach cramps, which can make it more likely to cause dysfunction of your digestive system.

4. Increase the burden on the heart

Drinking too much ice water may cause our heart to be burdened more and more, and even cause short-term heart failure or discomfort such as chest tightness and abdominal distension due to rapid increase in blood volume. Therefore, do not drink ice water immediately after exercise.

5. Others

Drink salt water after exercise to avoid dehydration. When we exercise a lot, our bodies often sweat. At this time, a large amount of water in the body will be lost, and some inorganic salts in the body will also be taken away. Therefore, drinking some light salt water at this time can replenish the body's water well and balance the loss of sweat.
