How to prevent lumbar sprain?

The waist is a part of the human body that bears relatively high pressure. Lumbar disease is the most common phenomenon, especially for people who have been engaged in labor work for a long time. Once lumbar disease occurs, it may bring great pain to the body and seriously affect the rhythm of life. Therefore, the waist must be well protected, especially to prevent lumbar sprains. Let’s take a look at how to prevent lumbar sprain.

Acute lumbar sprain is an acute tear injury caused by sudden excessive stretching of the waist muscles, fascia, ligaments and other soft tissues due to external force. It often occurs when lifting heavy objects or the waist muscles are strongly contracted. Acute lumbar sprain can tear the attachment points of the lumbar and sacral muscles, periosteum, fascia, ligaments and other tissues.

During the acute phase, you should rest in bed. For those with obvious tenderness points, 1% procaine (or adding 1 ml of hydrocortisone acetate) can be used to block the pain points, supplemented by physical therapy. You can also apply blood-activating, blood-dispersing and pain-relieving plasters locally. After the symptoms are alleviated, gradually start back muscle exercises.

The following are some key points to prevent acute lumbar sprain:

1. Employees should be educated to strictly abide by operating procedures, be familiar with production technology, avoid reckless behavior, and eliminate or reduce the incidence of work-related injuries.

2. Improve working conditions as much as possible and replace heavy physical labor with mechanical operations. Pay attention when working, especially when lifting heavy objects in a group, you should work together and move in unison under unified command.

3. Master the correct working posture. For example, when carrying or lifting heavy objects, try to keep your chest and waist straight, and bend your hips and knees. When standing up, use the lower limbs to exert force mainly, and stand firmly before taking a step. When moving or lifting heavy objects, you should take a half-squat position and keep the object as close to your body as possible.

4. Strengthen labor protection. When doing heavy physical labor such as carrying, lifting, moving, and lifting, you should use a waist belt to help stabilize the lumbar spine, increase abdominal pressure, and enhance muscle working efficiency. If you work in a cold and humid environment, you should take a hot bath to remove the cold and dampness and eliminate fatigue. Try to avoid working in a forced bending posture for too long.
