Teeth are our important organs. People with bad teeth will affect their health, especially when there is a disease in the tooth roots, timely treatment is necessary. But what do tooth roots look like? The tooth root is the part buried below the gums and is also a very important part. The root of a tooth is the most important component of a tooth. During dental treatment, it is best not to remove the root. Once the root is gone, subsequent dental problems are more likely to occur. There is a root canal at the bottom of the tooth, which is a channel connecting the root canal to the outside world. The root canal contains the dental pulp and blood vessels. What is the process of tooth root extraction? 1. Separate the gums The gums are tightly attached to the neck of the tooth, and there is a gingival groove 0.1 to 0.2 cm deep surrounding the tooth surface. Insert the gum separator into the gingival groove, extend it close to the tooth surface to the bottom of the groove, and push it along the neck of the tooth, first the labial side and then the lingual side, to peel the gums off the neck of the tooth. If there is no gum separator, a probe can also be used to separate the gums. If the gums are not separated carefully, they may be torn when placing forceps or extracting teeth, resulting in postoperative gum bleeding. 2. Straighten loose teeth For impacted teeth, hard-to-remove teeth, residual crowns, residual roots, misplaced teeth and other teeth that cannot be clamped with dental forceps, you should first loosen the teeth with a dental elevator before extraction. The method of using a dental elevator is to hold the elevator handle in hand, and insert the elevator blade from the mesio-buccal side of the tooth to be extracted into the space between the tooth root and the alveolar socket. The inner concave surface of the elevator blade is close to the root surface, and the alveolar ridge is used as a fulcrum to wedge, pry and rotate the tooth to loosen and remove it. 3. Place the dental forceps Select the dental forceps correctly and place the beaks of the forceps on the lip (cheek) and tongue (palate) sides of the affected tooth, with the longitudinal axis of the beaks parallel to the long axis of the tooth. When placing the forceps, the concave surface of the inner side of the beak should be close to the tooth surface, first placed on the lingual and palate side, then on the labial and buccal side, to avoid clamping the gums. The tip of the beak should extend under the gums and reach between the cementum surface of the tooth root and the alveolar ridge. Hold the handle of the forceps and clamp the affected tooth firmly near the end. Check the tooth position again and make sure the forceps beak will not damage adjacent teeth when extracting the affected tooth. 4. Extract the affected tooth After placing the dental forceps and clamping the affected tooth, three types of forces are used to extract the tooth: shaking, twisting and traction. The shaking is mainly used for the mandibular anterior teeth with flat roots, the upper and lower premolars and the molars with multiple roots. The teeth are shaken slowly on the lip (cheek) and tongue (palate) sides and the amplitude is gradually increased to expand the alveolar socket to both sides and completely loosen the teeth. When shaking, do not move too quickly or too violently. More force should be applied in the direction of the bone plate where resistance is less to prevent root breakage or alveolar fracture. |
