How to use sunscreen to achieve good sun protection effect

As we all know, the ultraviolet rays in the sun can have adverse effects on human skin. It is often the culprit of facial spots, so we must pay attention to sun protection in normal times. Sun protection should not be underestimated even in autumn and winter, let alone in spring and summer. When it comes to sun protection, we have to mention sunscreen. Many people may think that using sunscreen is easy. Just apply it on your face and you're done. But in fact, there are certain skills and methods to use sunscreen. Only if you master it well, sunscreen can play its maximum effect. So, how to use sunscreen for good sun protection effect? The experts will explain below.

The higher the index, the oilier

More and more people like purely physical sunscreen products because they do not need to be absorbed by the skin, but only form a protective film on the skin surface to reflect ultraviolet rays, so they will not irritate the skin and can be safely used on sensitive skin. But the problem is that physical sunscreens such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are powders that are only soluble in oil, so the more you use and the higher the SPF, the oilier the product will be. Some brands have come up with a solution: mix the physical sunscreen with a turbid solvent, shake it well before use, and apply it very smoothly. After a while, the solvent evaporates, leaving only a layer of sunscreen powder mist on the skin, which is completely refreshing and non-greasy.

Spraying is not easy

Many people like sunscreen sprays because they think they are convenient and easy to use. In fact, it is very easy to use insufficient amounts of sunscreen sprays. So, what counts as sufficient usage? Just keep spraying it repeatedly until liquid drips on the skin, and then massage it evenly - this is actually quite troublesome, so try to choose a transparent spray and spray it repeatedly.

Sunscreen must be on the outermost layer

Any wiping will reduce the protective effect. If you want to wear makeup, choose cosmetics with a high protection index. After applying sunscreen, try to avoid touching your face with your hands or using facial towels, oil-absorbing papers, etc. You can also choose sunscreens with non-scratch-resistant long-lasting formulas. They last longer than ordinary sunscreens, but they also need to be replenished frequently. In addition, they require special makeup removers to remove.

The higher the SPF, the better

Don’t have any doubts about the SPF. Do you think it is necessary to protect yourself in this way? Yes, it is necessary. Because most people still cannot apply enough sunscreen, for an SPF50 sunscreen, 1/2 of the amount applied can only provide about SPF15 of protection. If it is 1/4 of the amount, it will only provide about SPF4 of protection - which is about the same as the skin's natural protection. The average amount of sunscreen applied is about half of the required amount. If you really don’t like to apply a lot of sunscreen, try to choose a high-factor protection product combined with a strong antioxidant skin care product.

Sun protection should be applied in advance

It takes a while for chemical sunscreens to be absorbed and transformed by the skin, so sunscreen products containing chemical sunscreens must be used 20 minutes before going out (including before getting off work). Otherwise, if you go out right after applying it, your skin will be exposed to direct ultraviolet rays without any protection.

Sunscreen should be removed

Be sure to remove makeup every day after sun protection. Because sunscreen itself is oil-soluble, and its long-lasting and waterproof formula makes washing it off with facial cleanser like taking a shower through clothes, so it is the most effective and gentle way to remove it by first using cleansing oil to dissolve the oil. If you don't remove makeup thoroughly, it can easily clog your pores and cause acne.

Sunscreen but not waterproof

Even for waterproof sunscreen, the exact meaning is that it is water-resistant and can maintain the stability of its effectiveness after contact with water to a certain extent. However, you should still reapply the cream in time after swimming, sweating, or wiping off sweat.

Don't rub the sunscreen

Sunscreen is applied by patting - take an appropriate amount between your fingers or palms, gently blend it, and then pat it evenly on the areas that need sun protection. Sunscreen molecules are very large, so don't rub or massage them too much to force them into the pores. Doing so will easily cause them to become muddy and clog the pores, which will reduce their sunscreen effectiveness.

Sunscreen and powder are also refreshing

Don’t forget that sunscreen liquid foundation and sunscreen powder are also purely physical sunscreen products that are easy to use around the eyes! In the minds of many people, cosmetics such as foundation are still considered to be damaging to the skin. But in fact, since titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are both white powders with whitening effects, they have long replaced traditional harmful ingredients such as lead and mercury and are widely used in powder makeup products. This also makes new foundation liquids and pressed powders have sun protection effects. Moreover, in order to make the makeup last longer, the SPF of liquid foundation and pressed powder will not be very high, and the texture is definitely not oily. Also, because moisturizing, oil-controlling and oil-absorbing ingredients are added, as long as you choose the right product, you can make dehydrated skin more moisturized and oily skin more comfortable.
