What causes perianal abscess

Perianal abscess is one of them. This is caused by acute suppurative infection of the soft tissue around the anal canal and rectum due to various reasons, and the abscess is formed. 1. Western medicine causes:

The cause of perianal abscess is due to anal gland infection. Clinically, 99% of perianal abscesses are closely related to anal gland infection and suppuration. Some are caused by anal fissure infection, and bacteria penetrate into the subcutaneous tissue through the fissure to form abscesses. A few are caused by untreated or misdiagnosed hair follicle infection, atheroma or trauma near the anus. The details are as follows:

1. Infectious factors

Modern medicine believes that infection is the main cause of this disease.

2. Iatrogenic factors

Anorectal abscesses caused by iatrogenic causes are not uncommon in clinical practice. For example, improper operation or unclean drugs may cause infection and form submucosal abscesses; injection of chemicals around the rectum may cause tissue necrosis and cause perirectal abscesses; sigmoidoscopy may cause peritoneal perforation and infection, leading to retrorectal space abscesses, etc.

3. Postoperative factors

Clinically, we can also see perirectal abscesses caused by infection due to anorectal surgery, as well as abscesses caused by postoperative urethral infection, postoperative perineal infection, postpartum perineal rupture suture infection, and postoperative infection of coccyx osteomyelitis.

4. Others

Infection after foreign body injury in the rectum, actinomycosis, rectal diverticulitis infection, rupture of anorectal cancer or deep infection, as well as physical weakness, low resistance, chronic wasting diseases, or malnutrition are all causes of anorectal abscess.

2. Causes of disease in traditional Chinese medicine:

All cases of this disease with positive symptoms are mostly caused by improper diet and excessive consumption of thick and spicy food, which leads to endogenous dampness and heat and accumulation of heat toxins. It may also be caused by skin damage, infection with toxic pathogens, blood stasis, obstruction of meridians, and blood staleness and flesh rot. All cases of deficiency syndrome are mostly caused by deficiency of the lungs, spleen, and kidneys, which leads to the downward flow of dampness and heat into the anus.

TCM pathogenesis:

Anal abscess is caused by overeating of fatty, sweet, and spicy foods, which leads to the downward flow of damp heat, or the condensation of damp phlegm, which causes evil toxins to remain around the anal canal and rectum, causing qi and blood stasis, and the heat toxins to turn into pus, forming an abscess.
