Magnetic resonance imaging is a very common examination technology currently. It can detect certain parts of the body and can clearly check whether multiple organs of the body are normal through the formation of images. It requires strong magnetic waves and magnetic force, so when doing MRI, people in the room will walk away, because the radio waves emitted by MRI will interfere with other people's bodies. Many people must take off some necklaces, glasses, and hearing aids they are wearing on their bodies before doing MRI to avoid collisions with magnetic waves. In addition, although MRI can quickly identify some problems in the human body, MRI cannot be done frequently, because the radio waves emitted by MRI will directly cause harm to the human body again and again, which is quite harmful. advantage : 1. MRI is harmless to the human body; 2. MRI can obtain three-dimensional images of the brain and spinal cord, unlike CT which scans layer by layer and may miss the lesion. 3. Can diagnose heart disease, which CT cannot do due to its slow scanning speed; 4. It is better than CT for examining the bladder, rectum, uterus, vagina, bones, joints, muscles, etc. shortcoming : 1. Like CT, MRI is also an imaging diagnosis. Many lesions are still difficult to diagnose with MRI alone, unlike endoscopy, which can obtain both imaging and pathological diagnoses at the same time. 2. It is no better than X-ray or CT for the examination of the lungs, and no better than CT for the examination of the liver, pancreas, adrenal glands, and prostate, but it is much more expensive; 3. It is not as good as endoscopy for gastrointestinal lesions; 4. People with metal objects in their bodies should not undergo MRI. Note : 1. All metal objects such as metal watches, glasses, necklaces, dentures, artificial eyes, buttons, belts, hearing aids, etc. must be removed before the examination; 2. Patients with pacemakers are prohibited from undergoing MRI examinations. 3. When doing a pelvic examination, you need to have a full bladder and you must not urinate before the examination. Those with metal IUDs must remove them before proceeding; 4. People with shrapnel remaining in their bodies generally cannot undergo MRI; 5. For patients who have metal silver clips left after surgery, doctors should carefully decide whether to undergo MRI examinations; 6. During chest and abdominal examinations, keep your breathing steady and avoid coughing or swallowing during the examination; 7. MRI has no special requirements for diet or medication; 8. Bring along other examination materials you have done, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT reports. CT radiation is very small. CT machine is a radiation examination machine, so CT examination will cause certain radioactive damage to the human body. However, the radiation received in each examination is only slightly higher than that of a general X-ray examination and generally does not cause radiation damage. However, blindly multiple CT examinations are unhelpful or even harmful. |
