What to do if your nose is dry and cracked in winter

The weather in winter is relatively cold and dry. If you do not pay attention to daily care, it is easy to cause dry facial skin and dehydration, especially the nose area. The skin is relatively thin and has a relatively low fat content, which makes it more susceptible to the effects of cold and dryness. At this time, some allergic reactions will occur, causing the nose to become dry, and the secretions will also decrease. Symptoms such as sneezing and nosebleeds often occur. When these symptoms appear, you should replenish water in time. It is also best to wear a mask when going out to avoid cold and dryness. In addition, you should eat more foods that have the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying and replenishing water.

Causes of Disease

The cause of dry rhinitis is not very clear. It is generally believed to be related to climate, environmental conditions, and overall health conditions. There is no difference in the incidence rate between men and women. The following factors may induce this disease:

1. Being in a dry and dusty environment for a long time.

2. The climate is dry, cold, and the temperature changes greatly;

3. Lack of vitamins, mainly vitamin A and vitamin B;

4. Smoking, alcoholism, malnutrition, anemia and other systemic chronic diseases.

Typical symptoms of dry rhinitis:

1. The nose becomes dry and nasal secretions decrease.

2. The nose feels itchy and burning.

3. Dry rhinitis often induces patients to pick their noses, causing small amounts of nosebleeds.

4. The sense of smell generally does not diminish.

What to do if your nose is dry

1. A more direct method is to drop a few drops of sesame oil into the nostrils. Apply to the inside of the nostrils. Sesame oil can lubricate the nostrils, promote the normal repair of the nasal mucosa, and increase the moisture in the nasal cavity. Your nose will feel much more comfortable after a while.

2. Apply erythromycin eye ointment. Use a cotton swab to dip some erythromycin eye ointment and apply it inside the nostrils, trying to spread it evenly. Eye ointment can lubricate the nostrils and also has anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects.

3. Drink more water to avoid getting angry. Getting a fever often aggravates dryness of the nose, so you should drink more water to enhance blood circulation in the body, which can improve nasal blood circulation to a certain extent and alleviate the symptoms of dry nose. There is a proper way to drink water, drink small amounts frequently.

4. Rinse your nose frequently with cold water. Whether it is summer or winter, if you can insist on washing your face and nose with cold water, it can enhance your body's immunity, increase your nasal cavity's resistance to disease, and help improve dry nose.

5. Eat more fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A, B2, C, etc. Fruits and vegetables such as apples, kiwis, oranges, cabbage, and tomatoes can replenish various vitamins in the body. It helps to restore the nasal mucosal epithelium and improve the symptoms of dry nose.
