What causes bad breath

Bad breath is also called halitosis, which mainly refers to the unpleasant odor emanating from the mouth, which makes people around you feel very uncomfortable. Frequent bad breath will affect social relationships and will also have adverse psychological effects on the patient himself. There are many reasons for bad breath, both physiological and disease reasons. For example, poor diet and frequent consumption of spicy foods, such as garlic, leeks, etc. There are also many disease reasons, including oral diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, systemic diseases, etc. In addition, due to excessive hormone secretion in adolescence, it is also easy to cause such symptoms of bad breath.

1. Poor eating habits:

People who are accustomed to eating strong-tasting foods, smoking, drinking, drinking coffee, and often eating spicy foods such as onions, garlic, and leeks, or who are addicted to stinky foods such as stinky tofu and stinky eggs, are also prone to bad breath.

2. Excessive psychological pressure:

Frequent mental stress causes the body's parasympathetic nerves to be in an excited state, which reflexively leads to a decrease in the secretion of the digestive glands, especially the salivary glands, causing dry mouth, which is conducive to the growth of anaerobic bacteria and produces bad breath.

3. Oral diseases:

Patients with gingivitis and periodontitis have bleeding gums, pus overflowing from the alveoli, large amounts of calculus or soft plaque or dirt attached, or food impaction, which, after bacterial fermentation, produce hydrogen sulfide, indole and ammonia, thus producing a foul odor.

4. Systemic diseases:

For example, diabetes, uremia, severe liver dysfunction, oral mucosal and intestinal diseases, indigestion, some lung diseases (such as bronchiectasis), and some blood diseases.

5. Adolescent girls:

Some women in adolescence have ovarian dysfunction and low sex hormone levels, which reduces the resistance of their oral tissues and makes them more susceptible to infection by bacteria, resulting in bad breath.

Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has some understanding of "why bad breath occurs". Bad breath brings great harm to us. If it is not treated for a long time, it is easy to cause other complications.
