How to treat a sprained back caused by lifting things?

The waist is the part of the body with stronger supporting force, and people use the waist strength very often. From standing to sitting, strong waist support is needed. However, the human waist is not made of steel, and lesions will appear under overpressure conditions. For example, dislocation of the waist bones is a common phenomenon, also known as lumbar sprain. Let’s take a look at how to treat a sprained waist caused by moving things.

1. Acupuncture treatment

In the past two decades, acupuncture treatment for acute lumbar sprain has several characteristics. First, various acupoint stimulation methods are widely used. In addition to traditional acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping, ear acupuncture, electroacupuncture, acupoint laser acupuncture, fire needle, acupoint microwave acupuncture, etc. are almost all used to treat this disease and have achieved good results. Second, effective acupoints and prescriptions are screened based on comparative observations of a large number of cases. Recently, some people analyzed and verified that the Hou Xi point on the Foot-Taiyang Meridian has the best effect on injuries; if the injury is on the Du Meridian, the Shuai Gou point has an obvious effect; and if the injury is on the Foot-Taiyang and Foot-Shaoyang Meridians, the Yaotong point is the most ideal. In addition, it is emphasized that acupuncture and moxibustion should be combined with self-exercise. For the same acupoints, the therapeutic effect of those who combine acupuncture and moxibustion with self-exercise is significantly higher than that of those who do not. All of the above have continuously improved the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating acute lumbar sprain.

2. Massage

The patient lies prone and family members use the palms of their hands to rub and press on both sides of the spine from top to bottom, massaging the muscles under the thighs and behind the calves down to the buttocks. After massaging several times, press the most obvious pain point with your thumb, from light to heavy, until you feel soreness and swelling. Continue for 1-3 minutes, then slowly relax to relieve pressure. After pausing for a while, repeat this 5-7 times, and then pinch the painful area with the tip of your thumb.

3. Hot compress

Cover your waist with a thin cloth, apply a wrung-out hot towel to the affected area, and then cover it with another soaked hot towel to maintain the heat. Change every 3 minutes and continue the hot compress for 20-30 minutes each time. You can also wrap fried salt or sand in a cloth bag and apply it to the sprained area for half an hour each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. Be careful not to burn the skin. But be careful to keep the temperature within the limits that you can tolerate.
