What are the symptoms and treatment of cardia inflammation?

Cardiac inflammation is actually what is commonly known as chronic gastritis. Patients with cardiac inflammation will have obvious corresponding disease symptoms, such as weight loss, anemia, abdominal cramps, etc. There are actually many ways to treat cardia inflammation, but most of them are based on conditioning, so that the disease can be eliminated.

Clinical manifestations

Chronic gastritis lacks specific symptoms, and the severity of the symptoms is not consistent with the degree of gastric mucosal lesions. Most patients are often asymptomatic or have varying degrees of indigestion symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, loss of appetite, fullness after meals, acid reflux, etc. Patients with chronic atrophic gastritis may have anemia, weight loss, glossitis, diarrhea, etc. Some patients with mucosal erosion have obvious upper abdominal pain and may have bleeding, such as vomiting blood and black stools. Symptoms often recur, with irregular abdominal pain. The pain often occurs during or after meals and is mostly located in the upper abdomen, around the navel, and in some patients the location is not fixed. Mild cases have intermittent dull pain or pain, while severe cases have severe colic.

Disease hazard

Some scholars believe that when cardia inflammation affects the vicinity of the pyloric duct of the stomach, it can cause dysfunction of the pyloric duct. When the gastric peristaltic wave pushes food to the pylorus, the pylorus is not in an open state to allow food to pass through to the duodenum, but remains tightly closed, which increases the pressure in the gastric cavity and reflexively stimulates the vomiting center, making people feel nauseous. In severe cases, vomiting may occur. In addition, patients with cardia inflammation often have chronic pharyngitis and chronic esophagitis. The peripheral nerves in these areas are rich and easily stimulated, causing nausea.

For patients with chronic gastritis and cardia inflammation, general nausea and vomiting will generally not cause complications. However, when the condition worsens and severe retching or vomiting occurs, it can often cause tearing of the esophageal cardiac mucosa and cause upper gastrointestinal bleeding.

We now know that the cardia is the site where the stomach connects to the esophagus, and the cardia is usually in a closed state. When severe nausea or vomiting occurs, the pressure in the stomach suddenly increases. When the high-pressure airflow is ejected from the cardia, it may cause tearing of the mucosa there. Most lacerations are single, generally about 3-20 mm long and 2-3 mm wide, and split longitudinally along the folds of the cardiac mucosa.

Tearing and bleeding of the esophageal cardiac mucosa accounts for about 10% of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The amount of bleeding varies. In some cases, the bleeding is very small, with only blood in the vomitus, or only black stools without vomiting blood. In severe cases, massive bleeding, shock and death may occur. The diagnosis of this disease mainly relies on medical history and gastroscopy. Whenever there is severe nausea and vomiting followed by bleeding, the possibility of this disease should be considered. X-ray barium meal examination is not very helpful for diagnosis. For patients with large amounts of bleeding, selective arteriography may be of certain value in diagnosis. Esophageal cardiac mucosal tears can heal within 24 hours and the treatment should be based on the same principles as hemorrhagic gastritis.
