Will kidney crystals turn into stones?

Kidney crystals are a sign of a disease that leads to kidney stones, a non-contagious stone disease. The main cause is closely related to diet, such as drinking too little water and often eating foods with high protein or oxalic acid content. In daily life, you should drink more water, exercise more, limit excessive nutrition, and avoid and reduce foods with high oxalic acid content.

1) Drink plenty of water and develop a drinking habit.

Because drinking more water can increase urine volume, dilute the crystals in the urine, and make it easier to excrete them from the body. At the same time, even small stones that have formed can be flushed out of the urine early. Some scholars pointed out that it is best to drink more than 2500 ml of water every day to maintain light urine color. If the local water source contains a high amount of calcium, you should pay attention to softening it before drinking.

2) Don’t overeat and limit excess nutrition.

Because eating and drinking too much usually leads to high-protein, high-sugar and high-fat diets, which will increase the risk of stone formation. You should eat more whole grains and vegetarian food in your daily life.

3) Avoid eating foods high in oxalic acid

If you are a stone patient, after the stones are cured, for oxalate stone patients, in order to prevent the recurrence of stones, you should avoid eating foods with high oxalic acid content, such as spinach, beets, shiitake mushrooms, potatoes, chestnuts, strong black tea, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, persimmons and bayberries; if you are a urate patient, you should pay attention to eat less foods with high uric acid content, such as animal offal, seafood, coffee, cocoa, black tea, chocolate and peanuts.

4) Try not to take or take less medicines related to stones, such as vitamin C, aspirin, and sulfonamides.
