What to do if skin is infected and ulcerated

Skin infection and ulceration are caused by long-term non-healing of wounds, rupture of blood vessels under the skin, and invasion of bacteria, leading to ulceration. You should pay attention to the changes in the wound. If you find that the wound does not heal for more than a week, and the skin around the wound turns black, and there are purulent or even bloody secretions from time to time, this is wound ulceration. So what should you do if the wound ulcerates?

1. Keep the wound clean and dry:

First of all, when you encounter an infected wound, you should clean the wound in time. You can rinse it with saline or boiled cold water. Do not scrub it directly with your hands or hard objects to avoid aggravating the wound. If the wound surface is small, you can use a bandage or clean dressing to protect the wound surface and keep the local wound breathable and dry. If the wound is large and an abscess is formed, you should see a surgeon promptly.

2. Use special materials (foam dressings, hydrocolloid dressings, silver ion dressings, etc.):

For large infected wounds, in addition to cleaning and removing abscesses and necrotic tissue, it is also necessary to create a suitable environment for the growth of granulation tissue in the wound. Using certain special materials can maintain a certain humidity and temperature, which is very helpful for wound healing. It is generally replaced every three days. Please see the detailed instructions for details. Local baking and heating or the use of highly irritating disinfectants are not recommended, as this will aggravate the growth of wound granulation tissue and be counterproductive.

3. Rational use of antibiotics:

To prevent the infection from worsening, antibiotics should be used reasonably and appropriately. Do not abuse antibiotics on your own and use them according to the doctor's instructions.
