What are the reasons why bladder cancer is prone to recurrence

When it comes to bladder cancer, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of it. This disease is a relatively common type of malignant tumor disease. After suffering from this disease, patients will have symptoms such as urgency, frequent urination, difficulty urinating, and hematuria. At this time, timely treatment should be carried out, but many patients will relapse after treatment, and many patients do not know the reasons for the recurrence. So what are the reasons for the recurrence of bladder cancer?

1. Central growth. Since bladder cancer mostly presents as a central tumor at the onset, and there are often several tumors growing at the same time, it can be said that the recurrence rate of this disease is three times higher than that of a single tumor. The centrality of the tumor can also determine the risk of tumor recurrence. Most malignant tumors occurring in neutral locations will recur.

2. Special environment: Urine itself contains some carcinogens, and the transitional epithelium of the bladder mucosa is obviously more sensitive to these carcinogens. Although the current treatments for this disease include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, these treatments cannot change the carcinogenic nature of urine. Therefore, if a bladder-preserving surgery is being performed, recurrence of the disease is inevitable.

3. Immune deficiency. After suffering from bladder cancer, the patient has obvious suppression and deficiency of immune function, which may manifest as a decrease in the number of macrophages, an increase in CD8 cells and a decrease in the CD4/CD8 ratio. Therefore, at this time, the infusion of BCG can easily induce a local immune response. At this time, local injection of interferon is needed to effectively prevent recurrence.

I hope the above content can give everyone a certain understanding of the reasons for the recurrence of bladder cancer. After understanding this, everyone should be clear that bladder cancer should not be taken lightly after treatment. You should still go to the hospital for regular check-ups, especially after discovering some discomfort. You should get a timely diagnosis, so that you can continue treatment after timely discovering the recurrence of the disease, thereby avoiding other serious hazards.
