What to do if platelet antibodies are high

The impact of disease on the body is everywhere. Once you suffer from the disease, it will cause various discomforts in the body and cause various abnormal manifestations in the corresponding parts of the body. The root causes of most physical diseases are related to blood. For example, changes in platelet count are an important factor affecting health, and platelet antibody levels are one of the criteria affecting physical health. Let’s take a look at what to do if platelet antibodies are high?

The formation of autoantibodies such as platelet-related antibodies or antiplatelet antibodies is very important in the onset of primary thrombocytopenic purpura. These antibodies can cause bleeding through various pathways. The most important reason is that they promote increased platelet destruction, resulting in a decrease in the number of platelets. In addition, they can cause platelet dysfunction and increase permeability by damaging the capillary endothelium, thereby causing bleeding.

Platelet-related antibodies are one of the conditions for diagnosing bleeding disorders. About 90% of patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura have elevated platelet-related antibodies in their blood. There are many types of platelet antibodies, so it is recommended that they see a hematologist.

Causes of thrombocythemia: infection with high fever (this situation is very likely and will recover slowly on its own), essential thrombocythemia, myelofibrosis, and chronic myeloid leukemia.

The value is too high, and we need to consider the possibility of essential thrombocythemia. However, further examination is needed to confirm the diagnosis. Therefore, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for a visit to the hematology department and consider a bone marrow puncture. The purpose is to find the cause and make a clear diagnosis. Only when the diagnosis is clear can targeted treatment be given.

During the medication treatment for tuberculosis, the platelet count has dropped to a very low level. If the platelet count is not increased, it may be life-threatening. If the medication is stopped at this time, it will easily cause the tuberculosis strain to change and produce drug resistance. Therefore, platelet transfusion is necessary. As for the antigen-antibody reaction that appears in the body after platelet transfusion, the degree of reaction is different in different human bodies. If there is no discomfort during the transfusion process, it means that the body is tolerant, and there will be no strong antigen-antibody reaction in the future, so don't worry.
