What disease causes fever and itching of the skin?

People who do not like living in tropical and humid environments for a long time often feel their skin itchy and inexplicably hot. This symptom is mainly due to the dry weather, which leads to skin dehydration and dryness, as well as climate changes. Living in a humid environment for a long time, manifestations of internal organs or skin diseases may cause skin fever accompanied by itching symptoms. These are all caused by some adverse disease factors and require careful judgment.

Main causes of itchy skin

Dry skin is also one of the main causes of itching all over the body. As people age, their sebaceous glands gradually degenerate, often causing the skin's ability to retain moisture to decline. In mild cases, the skin becomes dry and flaky, while in severe cases, it may even crack and bleed, especially on the lower limbs. Dryness itself can cause itching and discomfort, and because the winter climate is very cold, the so-called winter itch caused by dryness is more common. This kind of itching caused by dryness and cracking should be improved by avoiding bathing in too hot water and using moisturizing lotion as appropriate.

The causes of skin itching are as follows: the number of patients suffering from skin itching caused by factors such as cooler weather, windier weather and dry climate has increased significantly. Pruritus is generally caused by skin diseases and is more common in autumn when the climate is dry. People who do not drink enough water, eat fewer vegetables (vegetable foods) and fruits (fruit foods), take too many baths, like to use alkaline soaps, and the elderly who have insufficient qi and blood, and whose blood cannot nourish the skin, are prone to skin itching. However, if there is obvious persistent or recurrent itching, it is often an external manifestation of systemic or visceral disease.

Neurodermatitis: mostly occurs on the back of the neck or its sides, forearms, thighs, calves, etc. It often appears in flakes and is light red or light brown. Severe itching is the main symptom. It may be related to excessive mental stress, excitement, impatience and changes in living environment. Local irritation, allergic constitution, frequent consumption of spicy and irritating foods, etc. may also cause neurodermatitis.

Chronic renal failure: Patients with chronic nephritis, especially those in the late stage (uremia stage), have no way to excrete metabolites such as urea and toxins in the blood, which are retained in the body in large quantities and excreted from the body surface with sweat, causing systemic stubborn itching, which is unbearable.

Hepatobiliary diseases: Itching caused by liver disease often occurs in cirrhosis, cholelithiasis, and bile duct tumors. Because of bile stasis, the concentration of bile salts in the blood increases, histamine is retained and deposited on the skin, causing itching. For example, in biliary cirrhosis, itching is the earliest symptom.

Thyroid disease: It occurs not only in patients with hyperthyroidism, but also in patients with hypothyroidism. The itching of hyperthyroidism appears early, and is mostly aggravated in moist skin and summer. The itching caused by hyperthyroidism usually develops slowly, the skin is usually dry and dull, and it gets worse in winter. The itching will subside on its own when the thyroid disease is cured.

Diabetes: About 10% of early-stage diabetes patients will experience systemic or localized skin itching, which is more stubborn, with the most severe symptoms in the vulva or anus. The itching may be related to increased sugar content in the skin or increased lactic acid in the skin and dry skin.
