If you have repeated oral inflammation, be alert to these diseases

Oral inflammation is also called oral ulcer. Some people often experience recurrent oral ulcers, which is quite harmful. Oral ulcer is just a symptom, and there are many diseases that cause this ulcer. Some diseases are more serious, such as Behcet's disease, lupus erythematosus, herpes simplex or some blood diseases, which may cause such symptoms.

1. Behcet's disease

If recurrent oral ulcers occur repeatedly and are accompanied by eye discomfort and decreased vision, Behcet's disease should be considered. Behcet's disease is an immune system disorder and a type of vasculitis. The scary thing about it is that it can affect blood vessels throughout the body and harm multiple organs such as the mouth, joints, eyes, stomach, intestines, and nerves.

The symptoms are not obvious at first. Symptoms such as oral ulcers are easily ignored. When the eyes and joints are affected, they are thought to be simple eye inflammation and joint pain, which can easily lead to misdiagnosis.

2. Lupus erythematosus

If some people have oral ulcers accompanied by hair loss, purple and red spots on the face, joint pain and other symptoms, they should actively seek medical attention, as they may not be suffering from oral ulcers but lupus erythematosus.

3. Vegetative pemphigus or tumor

Oral ulcers accompanied by erythema and blisters in the folds of the body should be considered as vegetative pemphigus or may indicate a hidden tumor in the body.

4. Colitis

Oral ulcers accompanied by frequent diarrhea, abdominal pain, and bloody stools should be considered as a possible cause of ulcerative colitis.

5. Blood system diseases

Oral ulcers accompanied by persistent fever and frequent infections should be considered as possible causes of AIDS infection, neutropenia, leukemia and other blood system diseases.

6. Cancer

For older patients with a long history of oral ulcers, if the ulcers do not heal for a long time, the ulcers are deep and large, and there are unexplained lumps in the mouth, they should be alert to the possibility of cancer.
