What to do if you suddenly faint due to low blood sugar

Many women suffer from hypoglycemia, especially young women. This is mainly because women have menstruation every month, which reduces the amount of blood discharged from their bodies. Some young women move their breakfast time to bed time in order to sleep a little longer in the morning. If this continues for a long time, hypoglycemia will become more and more serious, and they may even faint. What should you do if you suddenly faint due to hypoglycemia? Let’s find out together.

1. What causes hypoglycemia?

Hypoglycemia is a biochemical abnormality, not a disease. When blood sugar drops below normal levels for some reason, causing a group of clinical manifestations characterized by sympathetic nerve excitement and central nervous system dysfunction, it is called hypoglycemia. In severe cases, this disease can lead to coma.

2. There are many causes of hypoglycemia, which can be roughly divided into the following categories

(1) Excessive insulin: insulinoma, islet cell hyperplasia, islet cell carcinoma, ectopic insulin-secreting tumor, hypoglycemic drugs. Clinically, hypoglycemia caused by endogenous or external insulin is the most common.

(B) Reactive hypoglycemia: early diabetes, functional hypoglycemia, nutritional hypoglycemia.

(3) Oversensitivity to insulin.

(iv) Liver disease.

(V) Poisoning: drug poisoning.

(6) Insufficient carbohydrates.

3. How to prevent hypoglycemia

1. Establish appropriate individualized blood sugar control goals.

2. Conduct diabetes education: including educating the patient's family, identifying hypoglycemia, understanding the pharmacokinetics of the patient's medications, self-help methods, etc.

3. Fully understand the risk factors that cause hypoglycemia.

① Eat at regular times and in regular amounts. If the amount of food consumed is reduced, the dosage of the drug should be reduced accordingly.

②Additional carbohydrate intake should be increased before exercise.

③Alcohol can directly cause hypoglycemia, so avoid excessive drinking and drinking on an empty stomach.

4. Adjust the blood sugar lowering plan: use insulin or insulin secretagogues rationally.

5. Monitor blood sugar regularly, especially when blood sugar fluctuates greatly or when environmental, exercise and other factors change.

4. How to deal with hypoglycemia coma

① Blood sugar should be measured if possible.

②The patient is still conscious and can drink sugar water.

③If the patient is in a coma, relatives and friends can apply honey on the patient's oral mucosa and gums.

④Contact your doctor at the same time.

5. Preventive measures for hypoglycemia dizziness:

1. Avoid excessive fatigue and strenuous exercise, and eat three meals a day on time.

2. Patients who are using insulin should strictly calculate the dosage ratio of regular insulin and long-acting insulin. Closely monitor the use of oral sugar medications and make timely adjustments if hypoglycemia is detected.

3. If you find that you have a lot of urine and sugar in your urine during the day, and often have hypoglycemia at night, you should check whether the injection site is caused by poor absorption and change the injection site.

4. People with diabetes should carry some fruit candies, biscuits and other foods with them.
