Meryl syndrome is common in middle-aged people. It is a disease that occurs suddenly and may occur at any time. The clinical manifestations are tinnitus, deafness, dizziness and vertigo. There is no obvious gender difference in patients. In severe cases, the body cannot move and can only lie still with eyes closed. The disease comes on violently, and the sky may suddenly darken and the earth may suddenly fall to the ground. So how should we deal with this disease and what are the symptoms? The most common symptoms are: the patient feels that the house or surrounding objects are rotating when he opens his eyes, and when he closes his eyes, he feels that his body is spinning. When the vertigo is severe, the patient may suddenly fall to the ground. If the patient opens his eyes or turns his head during an attack, the symptoms will worsen, so most patients lie still with their eyes closed, and dare not turn their heads or bodies. Most patients experience unilateral tinnitus and deafness during an attack, while a few experience bilateral tinnitus and deafness. About 25% of patients have tinnitus and deafness before the attack, which worsens after the attack. The remaining approximately 25% gradually develop tinnitus or deafness after the onset of the disease. Deafness is neurological, and tinnitus worsens when the attack is severe. During an attack, patients are often accompanied by a series of symptoms such as not daring to open their eyes, nausea, vomiting, pale complexion, sweating, and even diarrhea, and most of them have low blood pressure. Some patients have headaches; most patients are conscious. There are two forms of the transition from an attack period to an intermittent period: one is that the dizziness and accompanying symptoms suddenly disappear, and the other is that the dizziness gradually turns into lightheadedness and gradually subsides. The intervals between attacks of Meniere's disease vary in length, from several months to several years, and the severity of each attack is also different. Hearing gradually deteriorates as the number of attacks increases, eventually leading to deafness. Meryl syndrome is an inner ear disease characterized by hydrops in the membranous labyrinth. The main clinical manifestations are sudden vertigo, tinnitus, deafness or nystagmus. The vertigo has obvious attack and intermittent periods. Most of the patients are middle-aged, with no significant difference in gender. About 65% of the patients have their first attack before the age of 50, and most patients have the disease in one ear. Symptoms and signs 1. Dizziness Severe rotational vertigo often occurs suddenly without any warning, often waking the patient from sleep or in the morning. The patient complains that the surrounding objects are rotating around him or her, and that he or she feels like he or she is rotating in space when eyes are closed. The patient often has a forced posture and dares not move, as movement can aggravate the vertigo symptoms. The patient is conscious during the onset of the disease, and has symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, cold sweats, pale face and low blood pressure. After a few hours or days, the vertigo symptoms gradually disappear. 2. Hearing impairment Hearing loss is a type of fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss. After the early vertigo symptoms are relieved, the hearing can be largely or completely restored. However, it can lead to total deafness due to repeated attacks. Some patients are also hypersensitive to high-pitched sounds. 3. Tinnitus It is a possible precursor to the onset of symptoms. Tinnitus is high-pitched and may vary in severity. Before an attack, the patient's tinnitus may worsen, and when the attack stops, the tinnitus may gradually disappear. 4. A feeling of stuffiness in the head and ear on the same side. Most patients have this symptom, or a feeling of heaviness in the head and lightness in the feet. |
