How to diagnose lymphoma

How to diagnose lymphoma

Since lymphoma is a common malignant tumor, how to diagnose lymphoma has also become a method of preventing and treating lymphoma. So, how to diagnose lymphoma? Let us introduce it in detail.

1. Ultrasound scan, which uses ultrasound to depict the image of the abdomen to check for any abnormalities. The test is performed in the hospital's scanning department. When you lie on your back comfortably, apply a thin layer of gel on your abdomen, and then move a small probe that produces sound waves and looks like a loudspeaker on your abdomen. The collected echoes are converted into images through a computer. The ultrasound scan process only takes a few minutes and is painless.

2. CT scan (CAT scan) CT scan is another type of X-ray. It takes multiple pictures of the chest and abdomen and enters the pictures into the computer to show detailed images of the body. On the day of the scan, the hospital's scanning department will give clear instructions on how long you should not eat or drink before the scan. The hospital will ask you to drink a liquid developer twice, a few hours before the scan and once in the X-ray room. This developer ensures that the image is clear under X-rays. Once you are comfortably lying on a medical bed, the scan can be performed immediately. The scan requires you to lie still for about 30 minutes, but it is painless, and most people can go home immediately after the scan.

3. Blood test, how to diagnose lymphoma? During the treatment of lymphoma, blood samples will be drawn regularly. There is generally no special in the early stage. Anemia is more common in the late stage with combined hemolytic anemia. White blood cells (WBC) are generally normal except for bone marrow involvement. Eosinophilia is the most common in Hodgkin's disease (HD).

4. Biopsy is an essential examination method for diagnosing lymphoma. The site of biopsy is usually the lymph nodes in the neck or armpit.

5. Biochemical examination: Erythrocyte sedimentation rate increases, indicating that the disease has progressed; serum copper and ferritin increase as the disease progresses, but decrease during remission; zinc decreases as the disease progresses, but increases during remission. Alkaline phosphatase increases, indicating that the liver or bones may be affected.

6. Bone marrow sample examination. Bone marrow samples are used to check for any lymphoma cells. A small amount of bone and bone marrow samples are extracted and examined under a microscope. Bone marrow is generally normal before it is invaded by lymphoma. How to diagnose lymphoma? Finding a branch of Reed-Sternberg cells in HD bone marrow smears is diagnostically valuable. Bone marrow biopsy should be performed for patients with elevated serum alkaline phosphatase, unclear anemia, significantly decreased platelet count, suspected bone invasion on X-rays, and patients at stage III or above.

7. Immunological abnormalities: Hodgkin's disease (HD) patients have reduced responsiveness to tuberculin and reduced in vitro lymphocyte transformation rate, and the degree of development is related to the progression of the disease.

8. Mediastinoscopy: Mediastinoscopy can enter the mediastinum through the pleura to perform live cell examination, which is relatively simple and valuable for diagnosis.

The above mainly introduces how to diagnose lymphoma in detail, and I hope it will be helpful to you. I would like to remind everyone to pay attention to their health, find signs of disease, and seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
