How to provide good preoperative care for pancreatic cancer patients

How to provide good preoperative care for pancreatic cancer patients

Preoperative care for pancreatic cancer patients is particularly important, which can not only improve surgical tolerance, but also have a good effect on prognosis. Preoperative care for pancreatic cancer mainly focuses on the following aspects:

Psychological care

Pancreatic cancer patients are usually in the late stage after diagnosis, which causes great mental stress to patients. In addition, pain can also cause patients to have a series of negative emotional reactions, so we should communicate more with patients to reduce their psychological burden. For patients with severe pain, timely response measures should be taken.

Improve nutritional status

Normal nutritional status can improve patients' tolerance to surgery, promote wound healing, and prevent postoperative complications. It is necessary to provide a high-protein, vitamin-rich, low-fat diet and encourage patients to eat small meals frequently. For patients with intake disorders, it is best to use intravenous infusion to supplement the body's nutrition under the guidance of a doctor.

Control blood sugar

Closely observe the patient's blood sugar level and give appropriate treatment based on the blood sugar results. If hyperglycemia occurs, the dosage and usage of insulin should be adjusted in time. If hypoglycemia occurs, glucose should be supplemented appropriately.

Infection Control

For patients with infection caused by bile duct obstruction caused by cancer invasion, antibiotic treatment should be given as prescribed by the doctor, and the effectiveness of the drugs should be observed. Changes in body temperature should be monitored at all times. If high fever occurs, cooling measures should be taken in time.

Bowel preparation

Change to a liquid diet one day before surgery, take intestinal antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor, and perform a cleansing enema the night before or on the morning of surgery to prevent infection caused by intestinal damage during surgery.
