What is plague

In daily life, many of us are afraid of the word "plague". As we all know, this is a malignant infectious disease that can cause widespread harm. But specifically, it is divided into many different types. No matter what type of plague, it is a huge disaster for us. With the development of science and technology, we must have a sense of crisis and always be prepared to take protective measures against various plagues.

1. Symptoms

"Dan Xi's Heart Method - Plague V": "Plague is a common disease among the people, and is also called a natural epidemic." Its onset is rapid and the symptoms are serious. If the pestilence and epidemic poison is hidden in the source of the disease, symptoms may appear at first with chills and high fever, but may soon turn into fever without chills, headache and body aches, white tongue coating like powder, crimson tongue, and rapid pulse. The treatment is mainly based on dredging and clearing the meridians, using prescriptions such as Dayuanyin and Sanxiaoyin. If the summer heat and epidemic toxins are lurking in the stomach or the heat is burning the blood, symptoms may include high fever, irritability, splitting headache, abdominal pain and diarrhea, or nosebleed, rashes, confusion, red tongue and scorched tongue coating. The treatment should be to clear away the plague and detoxify, with prescriptions such as Qingwen Baidu Drink, Baihuhe Xijiao Shengma Decoction, etc. See the entries on epidemic, natural disasters, seasonal epidemics, and febrile epidemics.

2. Huge harm

In 2000, the leaders of the Group of Eight (G8) will hold their annual meeting in Okinawa, Japan. Given that infectious diseases including AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria have become the number one killer of humans and the economic losses they cause are incalculable, how to curb the spread of the global plague will be officially included in the agenda of this conference for the first time.

Gregory Hartl, spokesman for the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), said, "This move marks an important step forward in humanity's fight against infectious diseases. If no measures are taken, these three infectious diseases are likely to completely destroy the human economy and social structure. On the contrary, if the world's richest countries can contribute to this together, things will change fundamentally."

It is understood that there are currently 35 million people infected with HIV in the world, 70% of whom live in sub-Saharan Africa. So far, 11 million people have died of AIDS in the region.

One third of all AIDS patients eventually die from tuberculosis, which kills 2 million people each year and infects another 8 million, almost all of them in developing countries.

Malaria, which can be transmitted through mosquito bites, kills 1 million people in Africa every year.

The World Health Organization estimates that in developing countries, the three infectious diseases of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria have caused huge losses to countries. In sub-Saharan African countries, malaria alone has caused a one-third loss in GDP over the past 35 years.
