Some patients will experience headaches when they are nervous. At this time, you must be highly vigilant, because this kind of headache is often a manifestation of some diseases, and primary headaches account for a relatively high proportion, such as migraine, cluster headaches, and trigeminal neuralgia. These pains are very harmful and make patients very distressed. If these headache symptoms appear, you must go to the hospital for treatment in time to avoid greater harm to your health. 1. Migraine Vascular headache is common in young and middle-aged people and children. The headache is located in the orbital area of unilateral temporal and frontal area, and is throbbing, often accompanied by nausea and vomiting. It is an paroxysmal headache. Before the headache, there may be visual disturbances such as blurred vision, blind spots or hemianopsia, or there may be no precursors. 2. Cluster headaches It is a vascular disease and is related to hypothalamic dysfunction. The headache is located in the orbital area of the unilateral temporal and frontal regions. In severe cases, it affects the entire head. The headache attacks are intensive, severe and without warning. The headache comes on quickly and stops suddenly, and is accompanied by conjunctival congestion, tearing, runny nose, and sweating. A few people experience ptosis, which occurs several times a day and can occur during sleep. 3. Trigeminal neuralgia It is an episodic, short-term, severe pain in the distribution area of the trigeminal nerve in the face. Each pain lasts only a few seconds and occurs several to dozens of times a day. The pain may feel like a knife cutting, burning, or stabbing. It is often triggered by washing face, brushing teeth, talking and chewing. People can often pinpoint locations that trigger pain, called trigger points. This disease is more common in middle-aged and elderly people, with the second and third branches of the trigeminal nerve being more frequently affected. 4. Headache caused by intracranial space-occupying disease Such diseases include intracranial tumors, intracranial metastatic cancer, brain abscesses and brain parasitic diseases. This type of headache is caused by increased pressure within the skull. As the disease progresses, it is often accompanied by projectile vomiting and fundus edema, but it can be misdiagnosed as tension headache in the early stages. For patients with headaches of a short duration, in addition to paying attention to fundus changes, a careful neurological examination should also be performed. If signs such as pathological reflexes are found, it often indicates that it is not a tension-type headache. Instead, brain CT or MRI and other examinations should be used promptly to assist in identification. |
