The acceleration of modern industrialization has led to serious air pollution, which has also caused a series of respiratory diseases. For patients with allergic sinusitis, such an environment can easily lead to an attack of the disease. According to medical statistics, most patients with allergic sinusitis have a family history of allergies. However, with the intensification of air pollution, people who originally had non-allergic constitutions have also developed allergic constitutions. Common allergens include: pollen, dust mites, fungi, animal dander, milk, shrimp and crabs, etc. 1. Symptoms of allergic sinusitis This disease can occur at any age including infancy. Most patients develop it before the age of 20. It is a common disease. Most patients also suffer from allergic rhinitis. Sneezing, itchy nose, nasal congestion, purulent discharge and headache are the five most common symptoms. Allergic frontal sinusitis causes forehead pain in the morning, which gradually worsens, eases in the afternoon, and disappears completely in the evening. Allergic maxillary sinusitis causes swelling and pain in the cheeks or pain in the upper molars. The headache is mild, limited to the inner canthus or root of the nose, or may radiate to the top of the head. It is mostly caused by allergic ethmoid sinusitis. The main symptom of allergic sphenoid sinusitis is pain deep in the eyeball, which may radiate to the top of the head, and occipital headache that is mild in the morning and severe in the afternoon. Examination of the interior of the nose reveals edematous turbinates that are often pale or purple and covered with a thin layer of watery mucus. Purulent secretions may be seen in the nasal passages, and in severe cases, swollen nasal conchae may completely block the nasal passages. 2. Common typical symptoms of allergic sinusitis include: ① Red, itchy eyes and tears ② Itchy nose, lots of mucus, mostly clear watery mucus combined with purulent mucus ③ Nasal congestion, stuffy ears ④ Sneezing ⑤ Dark circles under the eyes ⑥ Breathing through the mouth ⑦ Decreased or absent sense of smell ⑧ Dizziness, headache. The symptoms may be different for each person. Patients with perennial rhinitis may also experience seasonal attacks at the same time. Some patients with allergic sinusitis may also have symptoms such as nasal polyps, asthma, and snoring. 3. Dangers of allergic sinusitis Allergic sinusitis can cause complications such as nasal polyps, bronchial asthma, otitis media (middle ear infection); sinusitis (sinus infection); allergic pharyngitis; and nosebleeds. |
