Three major pathological factors of heart valve disease

There are two types of heart valve disease: congenital and acquired. Many people are born with heart valves, which affect the normal blood flow of the heart. Most causes of heart valve disease may be bacterial infection and disease degeneration. We should pay attention to care and reasonable control in daily life.

The causes of the disease can be divided into two categories: congenital and acquired.

Congenital heart valve disease refers to heart valve problems that are discovered when the patient is born. Most of the time, there is no obvious cause. For example, some patients' aortic valves have only two leaflets, one less than normal. As a result, the aortic valve can only open a little, affecting blood circulation.

Acquired heart valve diseases can be roughly divided into three categories: infection, degeneration and other diseases.

Bacterial Infections:

Bacteria may enter the heart through the blood and erode the heart valves, causing damage to the valve tissue. There are two types of people who are more susceptible to bacterial infection. The first type is drug addicts who share syringes. The second type is patients who already have minor problems with their heart valves (such as thicker heart valves or even calcification).

Degeneration:

As people age, their heart valves degenerate, most commonly in the aortic valve. A small number of patients also suffer from genetic diseases, such as Marfan's Disease, which causes premature degeneration of the heart valves.

Other diseases:

Other diseases mainly refer to rheumatic heart disease. The Streptococcus that causes rheumatic heart disease can cause inflammation of the patient's throat, and a small number of patients will have an abnormal immune response - the body will produce abnormal antibodies that damage heart valve tissue, such as causing mitral regurgitation or mitral stenosis.
