Overcoming the fear of sleeping alone

Overcoming the fear of sleeping alone

Everyone has to go through a period of sleeping alone. Some people like to sleep alone, mainly because no one disturbs them, and no one fights for the quilt; some people are very afraid of sleeping alone, especially for some children, who often stick to their parents when they sleep and dare not sleep alone. So how can we overcome the fear of sleeping alone?

1. What is the reason for being afraid of sleeping alone?

Fear of the dark is a human instinct, but if it seriously affects life, it is called dark phobia, a specific phobia. There are many reasons for fear of darkness. Specific childhood experiences or certain stimuli can lead to fear of darkness. Dark phobia is a psychological disease. People are afraid to be alone. The mental symptoms and emotions vary greatly during the day and at night. Patients with phobia of darkness should seek medical treatment in a timely manner and reduce the impact of darkness on themselves through psychological counseling.

2. How to overcome the fear of sleeping alone

1. Go to bed early: The later you go to bed alone, the more scared you will be. Generally after 11 o'clock, nearby residents are asleep and the voices become less and less, so you will inevitably feel scared when you are sleeping. Therefore, friends who are timid must go to bed early. They will feel more at ease with the voices of people and cars outside the window.

2. Turn on the light when sleeping: Just turn on a small orange table lamp. It is best not to turn on the incandescent lamp in the bedroom as the light is quite glaring. Generally speaking, it is difficult for people to fall asleep when their eyelids feel the stimulation of strong light sources. So just turn on a table lamp, which will make it easier to fall asleep and feel at ease.

3. Develop a good biological clock: For example, you can set a rule for yourself that you must go to bed at ten o'clock every day and get up at seven o'clock. After sticking to it for a while, you will not feel afraid when you go to bed on time.

4. Check under the bed, cabinets, etc. before going to bed. When a person is sleeping and is afraid of a bad person suddenly appearing, he can check the doors, windows, cabinets, under the bed, and any place where people may hide, and then he will feel much more at ease before going to bed.
