Postoperative care for patients with teratoma

Postoperative care for patients with teratoma

Most ovarian teratomas occur in women of childbearing age. Most of them are benign and mature, which is a great blessing for patients. There are no special symptoms of the disease, and the way to identify it is the pelvic mass. Touch the lower abdomen with your hand to see if there is a mass. As for the main prevention method of ovarian teratoma, it is to go to a regular hospital for a physical examination regularly. In this way, it can be detected and treated early.

Postoperative care for patients with teratoma:

1. Postoperative cleaning:

After discharge, the incision on the abdominal wall should be kept dry. Bathing is prohibited after one week. Because the sutures have just been removed and the needle holes have not healed completely, and the scabs on the incision have not fallen off, bathing is not suitable. Of course, the skin on the whole body should still be kept clean, preferably with a sponge bath, and the perineum should be washed every night or after defecation.

2. Pain care:

1. Generally, when you are discharged from the hospital, you may still have a slight pain in the abdominal incision. It is normal to have a stabbing pain from time to time. If the pain of the incision is obvious, you need to check whether it is red or swollen to rule out the possibility of infection. If pus is squeezed out, you need to go to the hospital for a dressing change. If it is just redness and swelling, you can buy an infrared bulb and install it on the base of a desk lamp. After properly placing it, irradiate the abdomen twice a day for 20 minutes each time, until you don't feel hot.

2. Lower back pain: Mild pain will generally improve on its own after a few days of rest. If the pain is obvious, you need to go to the hospital and ask the doctor to rule out the sequelae of anesthesia and use some medication if necessary.

3. Pain during urination: Most patients will not have this symptom. A small number of patients may experience radiating pain in the lower abdomen during urination. This may be caused by surgery. The uterus is adjacent to the bladder. If there is adhesion in the pelvic cavity, the uterus will be separated from the bladder during removal. There may be slight abrasions, which will improve on its own after a few days. Drink more boiled water and urinate immediately when you feel like urinating. Do not hold urine for too long. If the urethra is painful during urination, it may be caused by urinary tract infection (urinary tract infection [translation]: refers to the damage caused by pathogens directly invading the urinary tract, growing and multiplying in the urine, and invading the urinary tract mucosa or tissue.). Mild cases can be treated by drinking more boiled water every day. Severe cases require further examination and treatment in the hospital.

3. Possible abnormal symptoms:

1. Vaginal bleeding: For those who undergo intramural myoma or submucosal myoma removal surgery, there will be wounds on the uterine wall, which will cause a small amount of vaginal bleeding after surgery. Generally, it will not exceed 10 days and is normal. If it exceeds half a month, you should go to the hospital for examination;

2. There will generally be no bleeding after a subtotal resection, but if the cervical margin is high, there may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding on the days of menstruation every month. The amount depends on the height of the cervical margin. If the margin is high and there is a lot of residual endometrium, the vaginal bleeding will be relatively more, otherwise, there will be less vaginal bleeding.

3. After total hysterectomy, there may be a small amount of yellow or bloody discharge for 10-15 days. You can observe for a few days and it will subside naturally. If there is purulent discharge, it may be infection of the vaginal incision stump or vaginitis. You should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment, find out the cause, and deal with it in time. If a patient with subtotal or total hysterectomy has a lot of vaginal bleeding, it may be that the sutures have split, and you should go to the hospital for emergency examination immediately.

4. Diet:

After discharge, you should eat a light, easy-to-digest high-protein, high-vitamin and high-mineral diet. Eat more fruits and vegetables to keep your bowels open, because constipation can easily cause the suture of the vaginal stump to become thinner, which may lead to rupture and bleeding.

5. Sexual life adaptation:

Sexual intercourse is prohibited for one month after hysterectomy and total hysterectomy. Sexual intercourse can be resumed after two months and three months of reexamination in the hospital. However, sexual problems of gynecological tumor patients are not only affected by physiological and psychological factors, but also by the wrong ideas of patients and their sexual partners, which often make women worry that they are no longer women, that their husbands will no longer love them, and that they will no longer have sex. In fact, these worries are unnecessary. Can you contact the nursing staff or doctors to find out the reasons and eliminate unnecessary concerns so that their sex life can be harmonious and happy.

Warm reminder: Patients with teratoma should maintain a healthy, stable and optimistic attitude in life, which is conducive to maintaining the balance of sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and androgen). Hormone secretion is regulated by the higher nerve center. Strengthen exercise, enhance physical fitness, enhance immune function and disease resistance. Pay attention to balanced nutrition and proper diet to avoid recurrence of the disease due to insufficient intake and utilization of trace elements.
