Frequent muscle twitches? Be sure to read these daily preventive measures

Many people may experience unexplained muscle spasms. Some people may experience them in their sleep, while others may experience them while walking in daily life. The twitching muscles may be in the calves, a certain part of the hands, or anywhere on the body. Some people only experience muscle twitches occasionally and they go away quickly, so they are not concerned. However, if muscle cramps occur frequently, you must pay attention to analyzing the causes and take daily preventive measures.

There are several reasons that may cause muscle twitching

1. Continue exercising even when your muscles are fatigued after prolonged exercise.

2. Poor local circulation.

3. Excessive loss of water and salt.

4. Severe diarrhea, vomiting, and insufficient minerals (such as magnesium and calcium) in the diet.

5. Sudden change in ambient temperature.

6. Minor laceration of muscle or tendon.

7. Excessive emotional tension.

8. Performing sports with improper posture or poor muscle coordination.

9. Some causes that have not yet been discovered or determined.

10. The incidence of cramps will also increase in some chronic diseases and pregnant women, so be careful.

Effective ways to prevent muscle cramps in daily life

1. Do not do long or intense exercise in poorly ventilated or confined spaces.

2. Sufficient water and electrolytes must be replenished before, during and after long-term exercise.

3. Get enough minerals (such as calcium and magnesium) and electrolytes (such as potassium and sodium) in your daily diet. Minerals can be obtained from foods such as milk, yogurt, and green leafy vegetables, and electrolytes can be obtained from bananas, oranges, celery, natural foods, or some low-sugar beverages.

4. Do not wear tight or heavy clothing when exercising or working.

5. Before exercising, check whether protective tape, sleeves, shoes and socks are too tight.

6. Do adequate warm-up and stretching exercises before exercise.

7. Proper warmth preservation is required after exercise in cold weather. For example, after swimming, you should immediately change out of your swimsuit and put on warm clothes.

8. Do sports or work in a relaxed mood.

9. If you are prone to cramps at night, you need to do some stretching exercises before going to bed, especially stretching the parts that are prone to cramps.

10. Don’t over-exercise.

11. Massage the muscles that are prone to cramps properly before exercise.
