What does hepatitis B surface antigen negative mean?

What does hepatitis B surface antigen negative mean?

Hepatitis B surface antigen is one of the five tests for hepatitis B. Generally speaking, many companies or schools require physical examinations when employees join the company, and one of the tests is the hepatitis B surface antigen test. Hepatitis B surface antigen is related to whether one is infected with the virus and is relatively important. The hepatitis B surface antigen test generally has two results, negative and positive. Negative means not being infected with the virus, so what does negative hepatitis B surface antigen mean?

Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is the coat protein of the hepatitis B virus and is not contagious in itself, but its appearance is often accompanied by the presence of hepatitis B virus, so it is a sign of infection with the hepatitis B virus. The normal range of hepatitis B surface antigen values can vary greatly in different hospitals. The normal range of hepatitis B surface antigen is expressed in different ways, and the values are also different. The normal value of hepatitis B surface antigen can be expressed in the following ways:

1. ng/ml expression

If the normal value of hepatitis B surface antigen (ng/ml) is greater than 0.18ng/ml, it means that the patient has hepatitis B virus in the body, and the hepatitis B surface antigen is considered a positive result, otherwise it is considered negative.

2. S/CO value expression

If the normal value of hepatitis B surface antigen (S/CO) is greater than 1S/CO, it means that the patient has hepatitis B virus in the body, and the hepatitis B surface antigen is considered a positive result, otherwise it is considered negative.

3. S/N value representation

The AXSYM immunoassay analyzer obtains the S/N value. If the normal value of hepatitis B surface antigen (S/N) is greater than 2.1S/N, it means that the patient has hepatitis B virus and hepatitis B surface antigen in the body, which is considered a positive result, otherwise it is considered negative.
