What should I do if the hepatitis B surface antigen is negative

Hepatitis B surface antigen is a must-have test during a physical examination. It can check whether your liver is infected by the virus. There are two types of examinations. If the result is positive, treatment is needed. If the test shows negative, it means that you are not infected with the virus, but this may also be an illusion. Generally speaking, after doing the hepatitis B surface antigen test, no matter what the result is, further examination is required.

1. Go to a professional liver disease hospital for examination

The serum level of surface antigen is too low to be detected by ordinary testing methods, which requires a more accurate examination in a professional, large liver disease hospital.

2. It may be normal

For healthy people, a negative hepatitis B surface antigen result means that the hepatitis B virus cannot be detected in the body, which is a normal situation.

3. Hepatitis B virus mutation

If the hepatitis B surface antigen of a hepatitis B patient is negative, in addition to the improvement of the condition, it may also be caused by the mutation of the hepatitis B virus. At this time, the negative hepatitis B surface antigen is an illusion. Therefore, hepatitis B patients should not take it lightly and must regularly check the hepatitis B two-pair-a-half, HBV-DNA and other items in a timely manner.

4. Check in conjunction with other items

Whether it is normal when the hepatitis B surface antibody is negative in the hepatitis B test needs to be analyzed in combination with other items. If only HBsAb (hepatitis B surface antibody) is positive, it means that protective antibodies have been produced. If the hepatitis B surface antibody titer is greater than 10, you will not be infected with hepatitis B in the future. If the surface antibody is negative or the hepatitis B surface antibody titer is less than 10, you need to get a hepatitis B vaccine. Only after the antibody is produced can you resist the invasion of the hepatitis B virus. If the hepatitis B surface antigen test is positive, liver function, B-ultrasound, HBV-DNA and other tests should be done in time, and go to a regular hospital for active treatment according to the condition.
