What issues should be paid attention to in renal hamartoma?

Speaking of renal hamartoma, I believe many people are very unfamiliar with this disease, but renal hamartoma is a common disease in the human body. As modern people's living standards have improved a lot, there have been great changes in diet and daily routine. Renal hamartoma is also a very common kidney disease. So how much harm will renal hamartoma bring to the body? What should we pay more attention to?

Clinical manifestations

1. The vast majority of patients with hamartomas have no obvious symptoms.

2. Some larger hamartomas may cause digestive discomfort due to compression of the duodenum, stomach and other organs.

3. When a larger hamartoma suddenly ruptures, the patient will experience symptoms such as lower back and abdominal pain and hematuria. Patients with severe massive bleeding may feel a mass in the abdomen and may even have symptoms of shock.

4. Extrarenal manifestations: butterfly-shaped sebaceous adenomas on the face, epilepsy, intellectual impairment, etc.

examine

1. Laboratory examination

Urine examination may show occult blood. Bilateral renal hamartomas may present with hypertension and renal insufficiency, and laboratory tests may show abnormalities in blood creatinine and urea nitrogen.

2. Imaging examination

(1) Ultrasound is quite characteristic. The fat and blood vessels in the tumor show evenly distributed dense high-echo areas, while the muscle and hemorrhage parts show low-echo areas.

(2) X-ray of the abdomen shows unclear renal contours, disappearance of the psoas major muscle shadow, and calcification in the renal area. Urinary tract angiography showed that the mass compressed the renal pelvis and calyces, causing them to deform, lengthen, shorten, etc., but there was no invasion phenomenon.

(3) CT is the main method for diagnosing renal hamartoma. It is a mass of uneven density, contains a lot of fat, and has a CT value of -40 to -90Hu.

(4) MRI In recent years, MRI examination has also played an increasingly important role in the diagnosis of renal hamartoma.

Prognosis

Unilateral renal hamartoma is a benign lesion with a good prognosis. For patients with bilateral, multiple lesions and renal insufficiency, their quality of life will still be affected despite conservative treatment. For a few cases where the tumor invades multiple organs, such as the lymph nodes, brain, heart, or even blood vessels, the prognosis depends on the condition of the invaded organs.
