Can valvular regurgitation heal on its own?

The valves in the heart act as gatekeepers. They open when blood is flowing and close when blood has passed. If the valve does not close completely during operation, it will cause blood turbulence in the heart. Valvular regurgitation requires surgical treatment, and postoperative care is required.

Pay attention to the following points:

1. Basic nursing

After heart surgery, patients should pay attention to strengthening rest, maintaining a regular daily life, ensuring adequate sleep, keeping in a good spirit and mood, and avoiding fatigue; pay attention to keeping warm, avoid colds, and prevent injuries, infections and infectious diseases.

2. Eat a healthy diet

Eat light and nutritious food, avoid excessive salt intake, pay attention to the combination of coarse and fine foods, meat and vegetables, and avoid eating too many vegetables or high-fat foods at the same time, so as not to affect the anticoagulant effect or increase the burden on the heart. People who take potassium-excreting diuretics should eat more potassium-containing foods, such as seafood, beans, mushrooms and fruits.

3. Notes on taking anticoagulants

Patients should take oral anticoagulants on time as ordered by their doctor. Oral anticoagulants should be taken once a day. Each dose should be taken within 2 hours of the doctor's order. Patients should also keep a record of the efficacy of the medication each time for reference by the doctor during follow-up examinations.

The dosage for each dose depends on the prothrombin time and activity. It is best to go to a fixed hospital regularly to check the prothrombin time and activity so that the prothrombin time is maintained at 18 to 24 seconds and the activity is around 35%. If the dosage of anticoagulants is changed, the prothrombin time and activity should be rechecked after three days. If the prothrombin test value is higher than normal, the medication should be adjusted under the guidance of a doctor, and interference with the anticoagulant effect should be reduced or avoided until it approaches the required indicator.
