What causes painful breast lumps?

Breast lumps are painful, and the symptoms and characteristics of these pains need to be taken seriously. Sometimes they are painless lumps, and sometimes they will show symptoms of nipple discharge or nipple changes. For different symptoms, it is important to focus on determining the correct cause.

1. Painless lumps

Most of them are the first symptoms of the disease, characterized by invasive growth of the tumor. The clinical manifestation is that even if the lump is very small, if it involves the suspensory ligament of the breast, it can cause skin adhesion; if the lump is larger, it will cause symptoms such as edema or orange peel-like changes in the skin, retraction and depression of the nipple, and enlarged lymph nodes; in the later stage, satellite nodules and even ulcers will appear on the skin.

2. Nipple discharge

It is rare for nipple discharge to be the only symptom, and most patients will have breast lumps. Common nipple discharge is mostly bloody and bloody, which is also one of the clinical manifestations of benign breast cancer. When this symptom is discovered, patients must not take it lightly and must go to the hospital for a discharge check to see if they have breast disease.

3. Nipple changes

The invasion of the lesion into the breast causes the shortening of the breast fibrous tissue and duct system, involving the nipple, causing the nipple to deviate toward the side where the tumor is located. As the disease progresses, the nipples may become flat, retracted, or sunken, or even become invisible. Sometimes, due to contracture of the fibrous tissue in the breast, the entire breast is lifted, causing the nipples on both sides to be of different heights.
