What to do if your gums bleed, swell and ache

Bleeding gums are a common symptom. Clinically, this is a symptom caused by oral diseases. Many people don’t know what to do when their gums bleed, swell and hurt. In response to this situation, we must develop good living and eating habits. If your gums are swollen, you can rinse your mouth with salt water.

1. Brush your teeth with warm water and rinse your mouth with warm tea: Because the dental pulp nerves are sensitive to temperature, especially for teeth with worn teeth and exposed dentin, cold stimulation can cause toothache. Warm water is a natural protective agent for teeth and can prevent and treat allergic toothache. Tea contains fluoride, and gargling with warm tea can protect teeth, prevent caries, and treat toothache.

2. Eat warm food, avoid eating foods that are too sour or too sweet, because teeth are best metabolized in a weakly acidic environment with an oral temperature of 35°C to 36°C and a pH of about 6.8. Eating foods that are too cold or too hot, or foods that are too sour or too sweet, will cause toothache.

3. Keeping your mouth clean is of course important, but when your gums are sore, you should clean them even more carefully. People with gum problems always seem to brush their teeth harder, thinking that brushing harder can remove the problem. However, they often end up wearing out their teeth or even causing mouth ulcers due to carelessness. You should avoid vigorous brushing and make sure your toothbrush is soft, because plaque is a soft substance and can be removed better with a soft toothbrush than with a hard toothbrush.

4. If you are lacking in vitamin C, in addition to taking vitamin C tablets under the guidance of a doctor, you should also pay more attention to supplementing foods rich in vitamin C in your diet, and eat more fruits and vegetables. If you have periodontitis, you should take anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor and follow the doctor's advice for follow-up visits. You cannot stop taking the medicine at will.
