Can pancreatic tumors be cured? Is pancreatic tumor easy to treat?

In recent years, the incidence of tumors has greatly increased, and the population suffering from pancreatic tumors has become younger. If you have a malignant pancreatic tumor, in addition to surgical treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are also conventional methods of treating pancreatic tumors. At present, the incidence of pancreatic tumors ranks among the top three among visceral tumors.

Can pancreatic tumors be cured?

1. The preferred treatment for pancreatic tumors is surgical resection, but because most of them cannot be detected early, the resection rate is low, ranging from 5% to 15%. Chemotherapy is an important part of comprehensive treatment. Commonly used drugs include gemcitabine, 5-fu, mitomycin, epirubicin, cyclophosphamide, carboplatin, etc. Radiotherapy alone can improve patients' clinical symptoms, especially abdominal pain and back pain, but has limited effect on prolonging the survival time of patients with advanced pancreatic tumors. Traditional Chinese medicine also plays a positive role in alleviating and controlling symptoms, improving patients' quality of life, and prolonging their survival.

2. Pancreatic tumor surgery combined with vascular resection

In the past, it was believed that invasion of the portal vein and superior mesenteric venous system by tumors was a contraindication for surgical resection, and therefore the surgical resection rate was relatively low. In the past 20 years, with the strengthening of preoperative and postoperative treatment and the improvement of surgical operation technology, tumor invasion of the portal vein system is no longer a contraindication for surgical resection. This method has significantly improved the surgical resection rate of pancreatic cancer or periampullary cancer.

4. Tail pancreatectomy

Tail pancreatectomy is a commonly used method for treating pancreatic tail tumors and is suitable for pancreatic tail cancer without distant metastasis.

5. Total pancreatectomy

Patients with pancreatic head tumors who are under 65 years old and whose surgical exploration shows that the lesions are stage I or II (without lymph node metastasis) can undergo total pancreatectomy.
