Do you know the transmission routes of hepatitis A?

Hepatitis A is a common liver disease in life. Patients with hepatitis A may have the opportunity to transmit the virus to others. The transmission route can be through food, drinking water, door handles, etc., so everyone must pay attention to hygiene and take precautions against hepatitis A.

How Hepatitis A is Transmitted

1. Hepatitis A is mainly transmitted through the fecal-oral route, which mainly damages the liver. Patients will experience symptoms such as jaundice, weakness, nausea and vomiting, and need to be isolated and treated. They usually recover in two to three months.

2. The so-called fecal-oral hepatitis A transmission refers to the presence of hepatitis A virus in the feces of hepatitis B infected people. If the infected person is contaminated with the virus through this hepatitis A transmission route and is not washed clean, it is possible to transmit it to healthy people through door handles, car armrests, public telephones, etc. Healthy people may also become ill if they eat or drink food or water contaminated with hepatitis A virus. The spread of hepatitis A can also be described as "human-to-human" transmission.

3. The hepatitis A virus in the feces, urine, and vomit of hepatitis A patients can become a route of transmission of hepatitis A if it is not properly disinfected. In addition, the hands of sick people (such as cooks in the incubation period) and flies carrying the virus can also contaminate food, drinking water and utensils, which are also the routes of hepatitis A transmission. Once a susceptible person eats food containing hepatitis A virus, contaminated drinking water and food that has not been boiled or cooked, or eats raw vegetables, strawberries, fruits, etc. that have been watered with feces, he or she may develop hepatitis A, leading to the spread of hepatitis A and causing outbreaks or sporadic infections.
