How to recover from tendon strain

How to recover from tendon strain

When tendon strain occurs, you must pay attention to the correct recovery method. Many people may make the mistake of applying hot compresses. In fact, hot compresses are not suitable. Instead, it is recommended to apply ice compresses or bandages, which can reduce muscle activity and relieve swelling and pain.

1. Only a small part of the muscle fibers are broken, which will cause pain when force is applied or pressed, but the patient looks fine on the outside. The treatment at this time is to apply ice and an elastic bandage, and gently move the muscles to prevent them from becoming stiff. You can apply hot compresses and start resuming exercise in about 2 to 3 days.

2. Some muscle fibers are broken, subcutaneous bleeding is obvious, and the affected area is swollen. The treatment at this time is to apply ice and tie an elastic bandage for 24 to 48 hours, and gently move the affected area. It will take about 3 to 4 weeks to return to your original amount of exercise.

3. All muscle fibers are broken and the affected area bleeds profusely. From the appearance, it can be seen that the broken part is concave, while the two sides are convex. If you encounter this kind of injury, you should first apply ice and bandage, and then go to the hospital for surgery. The recovery period after muscle rupture surgery is about 4 to 6 weeks. The principles of early treatment are braking, hemostasis, swelling prevention and analgesia.

4. Apply cold compress, apply ice to the affected area, or put the injured limb in cold water, or rinse under tap water. Apply pressure bandage after cold compress and elevate the limb. This method can stop bleeding, relieve pain and prevent swelling.

5. When bandaging, first apply a sponge pad to the injured area, then bandage it with an elastic bandage with moderate tightness. The bandage should be removed after 24 hours and further treatment should be given depending on the severity of the injury. Massage and physical therapy are not recommended in the early stages, as this will aggravate bleeding and tissue exudation and worsen swelling. Avoid repeating the injury-causing action within three days after injury, and perform functional exercises after three days.

6. After a week, you can gradually resume exercise, but stretch in moderation so as not to cause pain to the injured area. Drugs used: Yunnan Baiyao, Futalin, Safflower Oil, rub and apply.
